TGIF, Thank Goodness Its Friday! This has been a long and so far uneventful week half of which the weather was rain! It's been raining on and off all day let's hope it chooses off when I pick up my daughter from preschool.

My husband got an iPhone finally from somebody else, a better one for cheaper less the warrenty unfortunately. Buying used I prefer a warrenty just incase. Either way this person crashed it BAD trying to do whatever to it so my husbands been tinkering away at the PC since last night. Hopefully he can fix it because this is not cool, and will be a waste of time and money. Will update on that as it progresses.

Today after my chores of scouring down my house for the weekend, I began playing a neat little game "New York Nights" on my ipod touch, if you like simulation like "the sims" or "virtual villagers" this game would be of interest. A neat simulation about a character making it in the big apple. Cute graphics and easy game play. A recommended app!

Well it's time to run and get my daughter from preschool, then supper!

Later gator!

Things in life are expensive these days. You can't get todays technology without paying the price. Using classified websites such as usedottawa, kijiji or craigslist can save you money but cost you hassle!

My husband and I have been using online classified websites to purchase and sell slightly used items. Typically if both parties are honest the transaction goes smoothly but times like today make you wonder if IRS worth it.

We have been looking into buying a second iPhone as my husband has one already and I took a liking to them! Anyway the easy way is signing up with a provider who offers the phone. Convienient but after you calculate the cost of the data and voice plans plus taxes and fees is close if not over $200 a month for one phone. Ridiculous! Right now the service plan costs us under 110$ a month for two phones.

Since it's a no go for a new service provider and our current will sell us a phone for full price of 699$ so our second bet are the classified sites.

We found a phone at a decent price and made arrangments to meet the seller in person for the transaction. We left relatively early to meet for 8:30am. My husband tried calling her with no luck and she never showed up. Luckily we didn't give her a deposit like she requested. Sorry but I don't give money away without some thing to show for it. Either way we weren't impressed. She later emailed apologizing for the "inconvinience" and that she sold it to someone else for more than what she offered it to us for. Oh were we insulted, ignorant much!

Standing a potential business transaction up without notice or reason and changing the price. It's disappointing people are so ignorant. Oh well there are more..hopefully if not there will be more sellers!!

Nobody enjoys being sick for obvious reason of feeling totally miserable and not yourself. For an adult being sick is aweful but for a baby or young child who doesn't understand what a cold or flu is it's hard difficult for the child as well as heart breaking for a parent . Trying every remedy to make them comfortable.

Public places are terrible for collecting germs of all kinds. Not everybody has the same standards when it comes to personal hygene and not to sound like a germaphoeb but common sense when your out at the mall try to wash your hands and your kids as often as you can. Travel packs of sanitary hand wipes can be bought at most dollar stores too.

If you are like me and have a child who attends a public facility such as a daycare or school, chances are pretty good they will often bring home germs and other things they pick up at school.

One small step to prevention at home is washing commonly used objects like toys, door knobs and railings.

Our daughter attends preschool and constantly brings something home. She feels miserable for a few days with a cold and usually her brother catches it.

Our son currently caught a cold even though when I saw his sister had it first, tried to take all sanitary precautions but didn't succeed. When he is sick, even with a slight cold it always brings a worry along with it. Our son being born premature and had apnea for the first four months of his life but with the congestion caused by his cold he has trouble breathing through already small airways. So we have to monitor him and take all precautions with him.

I think the worst part of being a parent is feeling helpless you can't take away their pain or misery no matter how much you try but some TLC may just put a smile on your little ones face.

Time to check on my little miracle man...

We are just about half way through the week with Tuesday ending and Wednesday beginning. Monday was memorial day in the United States, similar to our Canadian rememberance day except they get a holiday to remember.

The weather hasn't been very nice and it's threatening to rain tomorrow. Well at least I know not to take the baby out, besides he already caught a cold our daughter brought home from preschool. It happens but it also looks like lots of fluids, rest and love otherwise have a very cranky little boy!

In writing news I have earned back my second writing star and my writing percent is up to 86% unfortunately I have no rating stars but at least I'm trying, plus having fun and meeting some interesting writers on helium. A wonderful community, even if I haven't sold a piece yet!

Keep on trying and never give up! Time to tweet my last tweet on twitter! Good night world!

Choo Choo! Thomas the tank engine rolled into the St Laurent shopping centre for a free show provided by Treehouse Tv. The kids liked it, musical, interactive and entertaining. For a short mini show it was worth taking a walk for. The light in the kids eyes when sir topemhat introduced Thomas live on a mini stage. Priceless!

Most of the children seemed very excitable, jumping around in an almost uncontrolable manner, adults just as bad not stopping it. Meanwhile my daughter sat quietly smiling beside me on the floor of the mall trying to enjoy the show.

Unfortunately unlike the other shows we went to see treehouse was not as generous and gave the kids a bookmarker advertising Thomas the trains DVD and tour. Considering Thomas fans can't even read they should fire whoevers in charge of advertising!

Despite that our kids had fun. We had a picnic of mcdonalds afterward. A good day.

Just when I began losing faith in my writing I recieved a compliment from a helium staff member on one of my articles that was actually rejected for purchase but transitioned to helium. Makes me feel better coming from someone higher in the writing game than me. Thanks Peggy :-)

Well it's that time again when I call it a night until manyana :-)

A gorgeous 18 degrees and rising, perfect to get out today!
For the contact sport fans, UFC was on last night. My husband invited friends over but only one showed up which is fine. Anyway the guys got into the fight, I was going to publish some articles on helium but a rude comment thrown by the guest changed my mood so I watched a movie upstairs.
This morning the house was semi messed up and I was notified that the guest drank all the vodka (a mickey lasts us months usually) and accidently broke one of our coke glasses from our set. Almost feel like marge simpson when homer goes "d'oh!!"
UFC isn't all the time so no point in whining and complaining. A quick clean up and the house is pretty much back to normal.

In other news we are going to a live show for our four year old. Thomas the tank engine at 2pm!

Time to finish up cleaning and get the kids ready!!

Blog on later!

-- Ally --

Finally the short week that felt so long is over! A beautiful Saturday sitting outside brushing up some articles to submit on helium.
I had several knock downs this week in the writing sphere. I need to start doing less opinionated pieces and more informative with little personal stories. I need to get my ratings 5% higher to get a rating star. Publishers look at those as credentials and obviously they don't take me seriously having only two writing stars to show and 20 ct articles on helium.
Nobody said it would be easy but after a while of thinking I'm able to figure it out.

Tomorrow my daughter is looking forward to Thomas the tank engine. Depending how dad feels after his testosterone filled UFC night we will most likely make the 2pm show.

More on tonights main event later! Now: cleaning time while the kids are quiet!

The sky was clear and sunny with a high of nearly 30 degrees. A big sign summer is just around the corner.

As school ends classes finish off with outdoor activities at the local park and summer soccer begins with afternoon games.

Even though we have to wait a bit for the deck we still set up what we could for the back yard including a baby pool for the kids. My hubby cleaned it and filled it with warm water so Dominic could test it out. He loved it although he didn't get to stay in long because it got cold too fast.

I still remember our daughters first swim. Summer will be fun! First big event for Kylie is Sunday, Thomas the tank engine at St laurent!

Time to call it a night!

-- Ally --

What a change! Today is clear sunny skies and 20 degrees! We have been sitting in the back yard all morning!

Almost time to begin building the deck we are just needing the planks of wood and it's good to go! It'll be fun to have friends and family over for bbqs this summer!

Well just about to have company! Blog later!

Want more updates follow me idream1 on twitter.

Growing up, the women of the family were close on my moms side. We had grandma, my mother, my aunt, myself and my younger cousin. Every year we would get together around the end of July because my aunt and I share the same birthday and my mom is not far off the very next day. So we had made it tradition to have kind of a collected birthday party.

As time passed everyones lives changed and getting together every year became more difficult up until about three years ago we started it up again. It's so fun and nice to see everyone after so long.

My mother mentioned to me the other day how my aunt wants to come and do the birthdays at our house and bring her little grand daughter as well as I now have kids too.

I miss the people more than I do the old days but new memories see coming :-)

-- Ally --

Today felt like one of those days you just can't wait to end. It began rainy, on most rainy days my mood is not so enjoyable however today I was trying to look on the positive side of things but it seems life didn't want that.

We had planned to run errands and get things done but nothing went to plan. Prescriptions not ready on time, the ride to the grocery store cancelled and money was tighter than tight. We did what we always do and tried our best.

I received yet another denial from the market place. At least my prices don't totally go to waste as they are transitioned to helium. I still haven't fully figured out the rating stars!

An old friend of mine gave me a couple of links for some websites that offer prizes for writing so we'll see. Never give up!

I call my son a miracle baby for many reasons. He has beaten a lot of odds and still continues to fight every day. His story has been a rough one (see May 4ths entry), but he has recently reached some amazing milestones. Being born three months early his corrected age is 11 months but you can't expect a preemie to meet the milestones of a full 9 month term baby because each preemie has a unique background. My son recently learned how to hold his own bottle, sit up without support and feed himself small soft foods or food that "melts" like mini ritz crackers, he also has been practicing his speech skills. My oldest is almost 5 so it's sweet to hear the baby babble in the house again. Both my kids amaze me everyday, my son showing he's as strong as the best of them and my bright little girl with her thoughtful but funny ideas.

Here are my two angels who inspire a lot of my writing.

-- Ally --
Tonight I was checking out an app I have on my iPod touch called QuickOffice which allows you to write documents such as .doc, .xls and .txt mobile and upload it to your computer via wifi. Now I thought that was really cool because it let's me jot down ideas on the go for writing. That isn't half of it you can also upload files from your computer to your iPod/iPhone including pics! Super handy!

I submitted a couple of articles to helium like I said and most of them I write on my iPod touch. As a SAHM it's fun because I can work a little at a time on my writing during small breaks without having to boot up the PC. Mind you it can seem limited but it's hand held so you can't expect it to run like a full computer. And that would have to be my apple iPod ad of the day! (A little humor!)

On another note my mom & stepdad came by to drop off more material my husband needed to build our greatly anticipated deck, that project must wait until June unfortunately. We had a nice chicken dinner. I always love when my mom visits. She's a wonderful person. She married her husband in 2004, he's a good guy and he makes her very happy which is important. A little emotional sentimentality this evening, apologies I dont see my mom often. The kids were just

On an ending note I found some really interesting topics to write for, also a good friend gave me a tip today ;-).

I'm excited to start them but not tonight it's been a great but long day! Good night!

Victoria Day weekend is coming to an end! We had a pretty busy weekend at home with the kids & dog but it was pretty quiet at the same time. Bad cold weather both Saturday and Sunday kept the little ones in and we all know what kind of days those can be especially if your kids are like mine and you begin running out of ideas to entertain them by noon!
My husband & I had a quiet night watching "Marley & Me" now I love movies but lately I haven't been really impressed by a comedy in a while but this was a great movie. A lot of what the couple in the movie goes through reminded me of my life including the "worlds worst dog". Needless to say the ending is a real tear jerker if youre a dog owner. It takes a lot of drama in a movie to bring that sentimental lump to my throat and well I admit it was really sad!
I recommend renting it if you haven't seen it especially if you have a dog!
It's kind of a lesson no matter who u are a dog will love and be loyal to you no matter what. Dogs are truly "mans best friend"

Give your pet a hug if you haven't already today.

Dedicated in memory of Sasha Hart. My husbands best friend for 11 years and my first real encounter having a dog. The best animal so smart, loyal and had a heart of gold. My first memory of her was when I went to visit my hubby (then bf) she greeted me with her teddy bear :-) So many wonderful memories so hard to say goodbye. Always loved never forgotten we love you girl!

Sasha RIP 2006

Midnight and I'm still up! Friday night is my excuse but being a mom I'm not out with friends getting drunk or being immature. Tonight I did some writing which I have been putting aside for a couple of days now. Unfortunately one of the articles I tried to post didn't work for some reason, maybe it's due to new updates on Helium but anyway I was happily able to post a new market place assignment! I haven't had one chosen yet but that doesn't mean I'm giving up. I have only been a member for a week less than a month. Needs a little time before things pick up!

On another note, my daughter is constantly seeing the commercials for the "Dora Live On Stage" show. It's actually playing at the NAC in Ottawa (as I mentioned in a previous post) and the tickets unfortunately went on sale in February. So even if I had the money to buy them my chances of good seats would be pretty slim. I tried a few contests, you never know but alas my luck again. Today my daughter mentioned the Dora show and got excited at a commercial announcing it for an American city.

I felt so bad, it broke my heart to look into her big brown eyes at the innocent little girl just wanting and hoping mommy will say yes so she can see her idol on stage live! I had to explain to her that we couldn't go and mentioned the Thomas the Tank Engine show in its place to her and her eyes lit up! She agreed she would love to see Thomas the Tank Engine. She asked me about a million questions about the show, most of my answers were "I don't know sweetie mommy hasn't seen the show yet!". She rambled about how her, mommy, daddy and baby brother are all going to go together and have fun!

I feel a lot better now to know that its not so much the type of show she gets to see as much as the fact she knows its family time and we spend the entire day having fun together on events like that. Even if it is just Thomas the Tank Engine!

It is Friday and a long weekend is approaching. Saturday calls for rain which will most likely call for some creative planning to keep the kids at bay.

Today however is a beautiful day! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and I've already got a load of fresh laundry on the line.

It is Victoria Day weekend! Also known as "May 2-4" or "May Long" Victoria Day has been celebrated by Canadians long before Canada was even formed. It celebrates Queen Victorias birthday, the birthday of current reigning Canadian sovereigns birthday as well as unofficially marks the approach of the summer season.

People across Canada will be celebrating this weekend by bbqs, parties and of course the victoria day weekend fireworks.

A fun time to get together with family and friends but still keeping in mind the responsibility of bbqs, fireworks and drinking. Be safe and have a glorious weekend!

Here is a history tidbit for today May 15th:

In 1928 Mickey Mouse Premiered his first cartoon "plane crazy" - something I did not know!

In 1940 McDonalds opened it's first restaurant in San Bernadono, California!

For more download "today in history" to your iPod touch or iPhone from the app store :-) very educational! Enjoy!

Social Networking websites have taken the world by storm introducing a newer way to keep in touch with friends and family, do business or find people with common interests online.

The two most sought out websites today that have everybody from Celebrities to common folk talking are Twitter and Facebook.
Both similar yet have their own unique aspects that are appealing to it's users, in constant competition for popularity, let's discuss them and what makes them useful in a mom/writers life!

FACEBOOK- www.facebook.com

First let's look at Facebook. It's been around since 2004, a couple of years before it's rival. Facebook allows users to create profile pages with info, pics and updating status messages. Users can search for members by city, school, interest and also join groups. Facebook has updated it's interface over the last couple of years to compete with those new sleeker looking websites. Facebook was originally used for new college and university students to get to know others on campus but soon became a nationwide craze!

TWITTER- www.twitter.com

Established in 2006, Twitter has been called "the SMS of the Internet". A micro blogging website that allows users to write 140 character long messages to fellow "tweeters" as well as the capability of "following" other peoples micro blogs and having people follow you back. Users can upload pictures via twitterpic which appear as a link in the message. It's quite a confusing concept compared to facebook but genuinely fun and easy to use once you get set up.

Now as I mentioned earlier both websites have unique aspects and I am a member to both. To me, facebook is great for keeping in touch with family and friends and Twitter is great for more or less "mini news casts" which can help professional advertise and market their work.

Like any website it is on the Internet so be careful about what you post online, have fun and be safe!

The weather has changed from rainy to sunny in a matter of days. We love summer time, a great way to have social gatherings by BBQ or patio parties. The past couple of years we didn't have much of a back yard so summer was pretty dull on the BBQ scene.

This year however we have planned to build a small deck and of course landscape! A little flower garden. So far flowers are growing in a patch at the back of our house. We received a beautiful outdoor water fountain which we placed in the middle. It's not complete yet, more flowers to be planted, a boarder and some rocks for d├ęcor.

It's coming along nicely but it'll take some time. My husband is great at projects like this he can build just about anything. Here is what it looks like so far: more to come as it progresses!

-- Ally --

Flowers are beautiful, smell nice and can make anyones home feel more warm & welcoming. I recently posted about a possible mini flower garden project, havent got around to it yet as its been rainy and we need more supplies for the yard project.

My daughter is excited as flowers have always been one of her favorite things. Most of the weekend was spent with her asking us when she can plant her special flowers. Funny enough a couple of friends came by last night after the kids were asleep and brought me a beautiful bouquet of mixed flowers as a mothers day gift. I thought it was a very thoughtful gesture on their behalf.

This morning my daughter spotted the flowers on the table and became excited asking where they came from and could she have one. Such innocents you can't say no so I promised after school she can have 1 small flower. That made her smile, it's always little things like that that mean a lot to kids.

I just love this time of year, especially when it's sunny and nice it can be quite inspirational! Spring & Summer are great opportunities for families to get out there and do things together. Take advantage!

-- Ally --

"A piece of me I give to you. I painted this flower to say I love you.
The heart is you, the hand is me to show we are friends the best there can be.
I hope you will save it and look back someday at the flowers we shared on your special day"

This was the poem printed on a home made heart with flowers and my daughters hand print. Even though she may not have written the words being 4, she was proud to give it to me for mothers day! She also made a beautiful little candy jar (with baby jars provided by us! LOL) and a cute flower picture magnet!

I love mothers day! A great time to reflect on relationships past and present between you & your mom and you & your kids. Last year on this day I sat in the neonatal intensive care unit with my son...hardest mothers day yet! I'm happy though at least this mothers day I may not have my grandma anymore, my own mom lives far(but I did call her!) but at least I have my kids and my loving husband to celebrate motherhood with :-)

To all the moms out there, no matter how you celebrate or with who, have a wonderful mothers day.

My 4 year old proudly holding her card to mommy...

The cute flower picture magnet :-)

It's been almost 5 years since we became parents. Before kids we had what we thought were "friends" and people around us who we thought cared. All that has changed as we grew from a couple to a family of four more and more people have just seemed to have dissapeared.
The majority of parents who lose part or all of their "before kids" social circle usually have the question: is it us? From personal experience I can tell you it isn't! Losing touch with old friends can happen with changes of lifestyle. Example before kids we could go out and party until 3:00am and sleep in, no responsibility except ourselves and a job! Now, if I'm up passed 12:00am I'm in for it with munchkins calling "Mommy" at 6:00am. Not much in common with single people or people without kids, almost like two different worlds if you think about it. Parenthood brings much responsibility and schedules to be followed not to mention finances to support your family. Going to get a 100$ hair do is not an option when you have kids to feed. Parenting is something you can only understand if you have kids, otherwise as an outsider "taking care of kids"can seem like an easy task.
We recently met a couple, who have kids and have had it as rough as the best of us but are still kind. We relate well to them in many points of view. A big change to hearing the adventures of the single friend or couple on the brink of break up. A nice change that let's us know, it's not us! It's life with kids :-) you wouldn't change it but there are ways to adapt.

-- Ally --

The weather in Ottawa has been on the ugly side the past couple of days. Lots of rain and dark grey clouds covering the sky. On days like those it makes you want to just hide under the warm covers in your bed and do nothing. Does the weather really affect your mood? People have been asking this question for decades, I even googled it myself to see what the rest of the world had to say.

Some beleive it to be psychological, where when the weather "looks sad" on a rainy day one might feel sad when on a sunny day everything seems more cheerful.

Scientist say the rise in depression during darker winter months is a result of lack of sunlight. This particular one is diagnosed as seasonal affectine disorder.
Sunlight and warmer temperature causes photochemical reactions to the skin and produces vitamin d which can affect mood & hormones. Humidity in the air is also apparently associated with cranky moods or discomfort.

There are so many unexplained things in life but one thing I know wether it's psychological or scientific my mood seems to reflect the weather/season rather than be affected by it. Even my son was a bit out of sorts today, we were cooped up inside so no park unfortunately. Thundershowers calling for tomorrow evening.

Flower gardens add a beautiful touch to any yard and are also good for the environment. I've always wanted to have a yard with flowers on the side but being a renter every place we've lived didn't have adiquate place for yard flowers.
We just moved into a bigger duplex in march which includes the yard, being it march at the time was hard to see what the land could look like. When the snow melted it was terrible! A swamp of mud and dead grass, nobody had maintained it for over 2 summers at least. Now spring has sprung and the ground is dry having let my husband throw fresh grass seed to see if the soils worth growing grass. A few weeks later we are seeing little light green patches in the back yard! Eurika!
The fun part was when I thought the things growing all over my yard were weeds but my hubby pointed out they are flowers! Regrowing from a previous tennant! They aren't entirely starting to bloom yet but so far we seem to have violets, tulips and maybe a rose bush.
In the next couple of weeks I was to take my daughter to Canadian tire and let her pick out her own flower to plant. Something special for her and I to do together. I love this time of year!

Animals can be wonderful companions and a first pet can be a step toward your childs learning responsibility of caring for another living creature. Buying the wrong pet for your childs age can have bad results for the child, parent and pet!

There are many factors to consider before adopting a new pet such as time to spend taking care of the animal depending what you choose, maturity level of the child capable of handling a new pet and of course finances to pay for items like caging materials, food etc.

Dogs big or small and cats require maintenance, vet checkups, food, medications/vaccines, and exercise. Also consider the strain of stress on an alrwady existing dog or cat if a new animal is brought in. Would your dog hurt the new puppy or would your cat just ignore the new kitten?

Larger animals are better as a family pet where everyone including the parents get involved. After all parents pay for the animals upkeep.

Smaller animals like hamsters, gerbils, mice or rats aren't a good choice if your child is a bit younger 3-6 years or rough for example you may want to consider something simpler like a gold fish that doesn't involve handing incase of injury to the child or pet.

Most young kids would want to keep a small pet in their own room but this can result in the child taking the pet out without supervision and harm the animal or get bitten or scratched and want nothing more of the pet. Keeping your youngsters pet in a common area of the house is safer for your child and her pet!

Older children usually 7 and up can more or less benefit from having the responsibility of a rodent kind pet. Hamsters and guinea pigs if bought young and handled by your older child can make a cute little friend.

Pets are living creatures and deserve a happy healthy life even if it's "just a hamster" so please think carefully before choosing that pet to ensure you and your child properly take care of it it's whole short life and aren't abandonned, given away or neglected.

My daughter asked me for a chiuaua for her 5th birthday. We already have a dog and although the pup most likely would adapt to our 3 year old Doberman it wouldn't be fair to our dog to put him through the stress of a new pet already. Young dogs also require training, they don't come knowing where to do their business and trust me, messes will be made. Unless you are prepared for it, a puppy isn't always a great choice just because your kid begs for a new pet.

Also dog food is expensive and having a young baby and a pup at the same time isn't something I'm ready to take on just yet though in the future perhaps another dog. My husband and I will be discussing possibly, maybe getting her a smaller pet however because she has shown more maturity lately and more interest in caring for what's important to her.

Posted in memory of Zeus who passed away winter 2012. We will never forget you boy.

Kids tell lies, there is no doubt about it and as the years go by it seems they are learning how to lie at younger and younger ages. Children obviously lie to hide things so they don't get in trouble but sometimes it can be their little way of trying to get your attention with something.
My 4 year old daughter goes to daycare and almost every morning I notice this little girl always approaches my daughter and it's never nice! My daughter is a very happy child, a morning person who's always cheery. Last night during bath I noticed a minor scratch on her belly and I asked her what happened. Not making eye contact and fidgeting with her hair she tells me the little girl from school did that. I told my daughter if that was true I would have to speak to her mother. Right away my daughter corrected herself saying she actually did it when she fell on a branch outside. I asked my daughter why she blamed the little girl and her response was "because she's always mean to me" Seeing we've already tried the friendship approach so I told her to just continue being nice to her and ignore when she's mean. I told her there are other ways to deal with kids at school and lies still aren't acceptible.
This morning my daughter made me proud. We walked into class together and again the little girl came up to my daughter holding a picture of a princess and said "see I got this you don't!!" taunting my daughter. She turned around and said to the girl "that's nice" and walked away!
I always tell my kids nobody has the right to be mean to you for no reason just like you have no right to be mean to someone for no reason. Hopefully it will make her a strong woman one day knowing it doesn't matter what everyone thinks. We always remind her mom, dad & baby brother love her no matter what!

Today was house cleaning day, my daughters at school and my son down for his nap. Perfect time although normally I do it Mondays & Fridays but yesterday we had guests. After a weekend of traffic through the house and laundry piling up it's nice to see everything back to normal.

Nobody likes doing it but it has to get done! I am an organizer, so I actually orgazine where to start and once that's established I'm on a roll! Makes it a little better! I think I went on a freak spree though because everything got the wipe down, afterall everyone has been sick with colds this weekend!

Rather than using a million cleaning products I use the Lysol all purpose cleaner. It's pretty good and smells awesome.

My house is back looking as good as it can but I'm not yet finished my laundry!! I'm sure everyone else feels the same, the mountains never go down!

Dinner might be cheap tonight!

I tend to do a lot of reflecting. Thinking about events that have occurred in the far and near pasts, people I knew and who I have become.
Growing up I remember wanting to be several things. Typical things like an actress, singer or dancer. I wanted to be a zoologist or a vet as I love animals.

This evening my daughter asked me if when she grows up could she be a mermaid? I explained how mermaids are fictional created characters and it's impossible to really be one but pretending never hurt.

Insisting she tells me she wants to study the beautiful coral and shake hands with an octopus. I told her she can become a deep sea diver, with a smile she agreed.

How cute coming from a 4 year old who's never seen the ocean or sea. I wish for her to always pursue her dreams even the ones that seem unreachable. She has her mothers imagination that's for sure :-)

Life hasn't always been wonderful for us. We've moved, a few times actually, had our share and some of personal problems including our sons birth last year that can impact a child beyond what a parent can understand. Some events in my daughters life have been rough and scary, like when she began preschool which she had adapted to an attitude of not listening nor respecting adult authority.
The past year she has amazed me. Growing out of the baby stage into the little girl era, she understands much more and you can tell she is happy. Lately she has been bringing home certificates of excellent behavior! Those cardboard certificates make me smile knowing she knows they mean a lot to her daddy and I. When we are proud of her she is proud of herself.
Praise your kids every chance you get even if it's just a little thing!

Welcome to A Motherhood Experience!

This is a blog written by me, Alyssa. A Canadian Mom of two who is here to share her feats (and defeats) through her Motherhood Experience! You will find great stories, motherhood tips and eventually perhaps features on great products our family thinks yours will just love!

First though, let me introduce you to the AME family...

Family life began for us in fall of 2003, when we found out we were expecting our first baby. Our relationship had just begun to blossom and we were thrown into the reality of possibly raising a family together. Could we handle it? Many people didn't think so but moving on over the years, I think we did pretty good.

The Hubby: His name is Pat (aka Hubby here on AME) and he's a French-Canadian, down to earth guy who can be tough but has a deep love for his family. He's a handy-man who can fix anything. I call him "MacGyver" as a joke because I always break things, he always fixes them. Computers are his specialty, he can fix any problem hardware or software related which is a plus for me because I need a running computer.  He's also an amazing painter/interior decorator, he did it as a trade before injuring his back so when it comes to home renovations, he gets it done the right way and it always looks so nice.  When it comes to his kids, he is a great dad. He loves to make them laugh and I love to see him make them laugh. When it comes time to get serious though, he just sends them to me (I'm kidding, he knows how to handle them!).

Meet the kids:

Our daughter, Kylie (aka K) was born in 2004. She's already going on five years old, that is just unbelievable. I still remember when she was born, it was 72 hours that should have been recorded for a reality tv show. I remember my water breaking first thing in the morning, 8am. I wasn't even out of BED yet. This kid wanted to come out and meet the world and right on time. Hubby, the wonderful man that he is, told me he would get me a "new water" when I tried to wake him. "The baby is coming!" did the trick, key words to see a man move faster than you've ever seen him before.

Skip to the part when we are at the hospital, we had parents who didn't get along all showing up to try and help but wow. It was a crazy time. I am happy the one person I needed was there of course, that would be hubby. She was born weighing 7 pounds 2 ounces and had crazy strong lungs, she still does to this day.

Now, almost 5 years old she is quite the little lady. She loves her family, especially her baby brother. She loves going to school and playing with her friends. She enjoys playing outside and doing arts and crafts with mom. She likes going on "adventures" to Tim Hortons with Dad, even if they are just going to get a donut and come home. I can tell she is going to be my strong one, she has been through a lot with the rest of us, you'll know what I mean - read on to meet my son.

My son is a little different, a miracle in my eyes. I won't get into the details and long story because I have rehashed it so many times in the last year, I still can't bring myself to write the entire story without bursting into tears. I guess the scars on my heart are still fresh. He was born last march (2008) three months too early. They called him the "27 weeker". He weighed less than 2lbs and his chances of survival were slim to none. We went through 3 1/2 months of waiting on eggshells, waiting for something to get better and hoping nothing would get worse. There isn't a day we don't wake up and thank the man upstairs for giving us a chance to be parents to this bright, cute little one and a half year old miracle man.

So these are the people who I adore, the people I do everything for - my family. Oh yes and I almost forgot one of the most important family members, our personal guard and drool machine - Zeus!

He's our boy, a four year old Doberman who we purchased from a breeder recommended by a friend at the time. The breeder ended up being a total lie, a family who illegally bred Dobermans on their farm and charged an insane price for them. We thought we had been blessed with a deal for Zeus until we brought him home and within weeks realized he was born with demodectic mange. When we mentioned this to the "breeder" they suggested we "put him down" and they would give us a "free dog". We were disgusted by them and ended up filing a complaint with the SPCA (Quebec Humane Society). The website and contact numbers we had been using for them we no longer in service within weeks. I think they got the message. We managed to save Zeus with medication although his eye was damaged from the mange. He is still our boy and the best dog you could ask for! :)
