This is the time of year I bake the most. There is something about the crispness of the season that brings me to want to bake up warm and yummy treats for my family. When it comes to baking, I like to keep things simple.

Have you tried the Anything Goes Cookie Dough from Becel®? This recipe is an absolute staple to have in your kitchen. As the name suggests, you can add almost anything you desire to the dough and create your own one of a kind family cookie recipes even your grandmother would be jealous about! With this recipe, you get soft and chewy cookies every time.
Becel Anything Goes Cookie Dough:

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup Becel® Buttery Taste margarine*
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large Naturegg™ Omega 3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract

How to make
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190° C).

- Combine flour, baking soda and salt in medium bowl; set aside.

- Beat Becel® Buttery Taste margarine with sugars in large bowl. Beat in eggs and vanilla until blended. Gradually add in flour mixture; beat just until blended.

- Add your choice of mix in’s (i.e. chocolate chip, dried fruit, seeds, toffee bits, etc.). Drop by tablespoonfuls on ungreased baking sheets, 2-inches (5 cm) apart.

- Bake 7 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool 2 minutes on wire rack; remove cookies from sheets and cool completely. Makes about 52 cookies. Baking times may vary depending on your stove. It took 10-12 minutes in our older stove.

I love baking cookies and my family loves eating cookies, it was fun to come up with some yummy ideas together. When it comes to cookies though, I tend to always lean on the traditional side and this recipe is just perfect for whatever your heart (or tummy) desires.

Since it's November and hubby was asking for raisin cookies we created a cinnamon oatmeal raisin cookie based on the Becel® Anything Goes cookie dough recipe above. Using the dough recipe simply add your desired amount of raisins, 1/2 cup instant cinnamon oatmeal or regular oatmeal with a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. The oatmeal makes the dough a little thicker which is great for rolling into balls and pressing down with a fork. Simple yet so delicious!

For the kids (and maybe moms midnight snack?) something more traditional with a full on chocolate chip explosion cookie. Using the dough recipe add in your desired amount of chocolate chips. The key is - the more chocolate chips, the better! These were a hit with the whole family, the kids requested I make these for our holiday dessert buffet.

No matter what you bake this holiday season, try replacing butter with margarine like Becel®, 1:1 in any recipe. It's one of the easiest changes you can make and it's great for the heart healthy diet, too. Soft, non-hydrogenated margarine, like Becel® Buttery Taste, contains 80% less saturated fat than butter and has zero trans fat. Traditionally when we think of foods that contain good fats, we think of avocados, salmon, nuts and seeds. But it's important to remember that soft, non-hydrogenated margarine like Becel® is made from a blend of plant oils and also part of the good fats family.
