Typically one would think we celebrate Dad's in June for father's day. This is true but November is also known as Movember, men's health awareness month and another month we celebrate the great men in our lives.

Did you know that Thomas *yes, the train* has been a friend to children all around the world for 70 years? This means that not only our kids are fans of Thomas and Friends but their father probably was too when he was young.

To mark this special milestone, we're celebrating the special multi-generational relationships Thomas has had with families over time, especially between dads and their sons.

To honor fathers and all that they do, Thomas and Friends is helping us find ways to take time every day to thank and celebrate the dad in our family.

Put his health first.

Being a parent is a busy job and, just like mom, sometimes dad's health can come second to the family. This Movember, Thomas and Friends is reminding dads everywhere to get regular check ups at the doctors. In support of Movember, Thomas and Friends is also selling blue mustaches, which can be purchased with all proceeds being donated in support of Movember initiatives which raise funds for prostate cancer research.

Take time to show your love.

Sometimes we get caught up in our busy routines and we can forget to show appreciation for the things he does for the family. We make sure to give him lots of hugs, daily and let him know he's special and we love him. While it may seem like a small thing, it will go a long way in making him feel loved and appreciated.

Have fun together.

The kids love nothing more than when dad joins them in play. Whether it be a board game, building things or just playing with their everyday toys, spending time together doing something they love will create memories to last for years to come.

Disconnect to connect.

This one can be difficult in this day and age as it seems everybody is always on their phones or devices. As fun as it is to sit and watch a family movie together, playing together allows more one-on-one time. Set up some trains and have them build the ultimate Thomas and Friends track, dad can share his memories of growing up with Thomas, too!

It doesn't matter how you and your kids show your appreciation for Dad - he effort is sure to show him you care. Remember, it's often the thought that counts more than the act itself.

I do remember that I read a Thomas and Friends book to my children (all born in Germany) that a relative had sent me. I have a grandson in Australia who is mad about Thomas the train. :-)
