October is about more than pumpkin-spice and crisp cool air. It's about being grateful for what we have in our lives and who we love in our lives.

I know I am grateful for many things in my life, my family being one of the big ones. We have all at one point or another, lost somebody close to us.

I lost my grandparents in the early 2000s. Each had a special place in my heart and still do. My grandmothers holiday meals were something I looked forward to every year, I wish I could mimic her hand in the kitchen.

This makes me grateful I am able to spend Thanksgiving and every other holiday with the ones who are still with us. It reminds us all that life is too short not to be thankful, every day.

As we get closer to Thanksgiving, the true value of uniting family over our favourite meals becomes more apparent than ever.

With this in mind, the Loblaws team decided to surprise customer Matthew Rome and his family with a Thanksgiving treat.

Working with Loblaws chefs, they brought beloved Rome family recipes to life after the loss of Matthew's wife and united his whole family to share the incredible experience.

Today, Loblaws released a heart-warming video that documents that experience. Make sure you have a tissue or two ready.
