Have you ever sat down and thought about how fast time really goes by? We are already getting ready for another holiday season and ringing in a new year. As we say goodbye to 2017, Netflix brings us fun with interesting statistics about what people binged throughout the past year, what shows brought us together and what shows we may or may not have cheated on our best friends/spouses with.

In 2017, Canadians were watching a lot of drama. Not being able to keep our eyes off shows like Greenleaf, Suburra: Blood on Rome and Ingobernable. Comedy kept us laughing with shows like Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, Friends from College and Big Mouth. Those shows some may or may not have "cheated" with (watching ahead without your binging partner) were thrillers like Narcos, Ozark and Black Mirror. Lastly, the shows that brought us together (the ones we watched with our partners, kids or other people we enjoy watching Netflix with) were retro favorites like Stranger Things or revamps of classics like Fuller House (season 3 continues with new episodes on December 22nd!), Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, all three of which I recommend watching if you haven't yet.

'Tis the season for Holiday movies and Netflix has a wonderful variety to make your Christmas a lot merrier! It's always been a tradition of mine and hubby's to watch holiday movies this time of year, even when it's just the two of us. We just watched "Four Christmases" last night! The holiday movies are easy to find by typing either "holiday" or "Christmas" into the search bar.

If you are in need of a gift for someone, give them the gift of a Netflix gift card. My mom and her husband live off of Netflix since we introduced them a few years ago. Most grocery stores, Walmart and Costco's have gift cards in different amounts plus new users get a 30 day trial for signing up. It's a win-win with Netflix.

Happy Holiday streaming!

Christmas is just around the corner and we are preparing for the festivities; we finally got our tree up! Everybody is super excited, the kids can't wait to be on Christmas break from school.

While this time of year is a whirlwind of events from shopping to decorating, cooking, baking and having a houseful of people, keep in mind our furry friends this holiday season. Don't forget the pets!

The food may look good but...not all food is good for them. Dogs can be pretty sneaky when it comes to giving those "puppy" eyes to visitors who may not know any better than to think to share their food with them. Remind guests not to feed the pets and be careful they don't pick anything up off of the floor. A simple treat to you could be deadly for them such as turkey bones, chocolate or sugary foods (especially artificial sweeteners!). Even though it may not be appealing to them once they smell that turkey dinner, it's always wise to serve the dogs their own dog food meal, maybe make it a can as a special treat!

Dogs like presents too! Every Christmas our dogs are included on Santas list. They enjoy getting new treats, toys and even new dog blankets every year, they even unwrap their own presents! Just be careful of any chewers who may enjoy the wrapping more than the actual gift.

Nervous Nellies. We have chihuahuas and one of them, in particular, is not that great when it comes to strangers or even people we know well coming into her home. They're big, they're loud and they scare her! To comfort her, she has a safe zone along with the other dogs, a special pet bed she can run to and sit in when she feels overwhelmed. Worst case, she also has access to a private pet crate she can hide in and feel safe.

Don't forget the extra love. Make your pet feel extra special this holiday (and every day) with lots of extra love, they'll thank you for the extra attention. The best gift we can give them is our love.

These are just a few tips to help you have a safe and happy holiday season with your furry friends!

Being invited to holiday parties is a lot of fun but don’t forget the effort and time the host/hostess spends trying to make the perfect evening. To say Thank You, why not gift them with something they can enjoy with holiday company or relax on their own afterwards?

Lakeview Wine Co. sent me over a beautiful Holiday Host package which includes two bottles of wine and a double wine bag!

EastDell Cuvee Brut sparkling wine

Crafted from 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, this delivers richly articulated notes of green apple, bread, lees, lemon citrus and mineral. Creamy and lively with expressive bubbles, this is well made and very good. A bright and impressive sparkler. (Vintages panel, Aug. 2016)

Lakeview Vidal Icewine

This Icewine is sleek and perfectly balanced with hints of honey, peach cobbler and pear preserves. Goes well with fruit or blue cheeses.

I am no expert when it comes to wine but I know one of my favourite kinds to enjoy over the holidays is Icewine. I am looking forward to sharing these great wines with my loved ones (19+) this holiday season! :)

You can find these and other Lakeview Wine Co wines at your local LCBO or online at www.lakeviewwineco.com!

They’re small, they’re cute and they’re collectable; Littlest Pet Shop by Hasbro has been a favourite of ours for years beginning with our oldest child starting her own collection at the age of seven. Now that she’s older, she has handed down the fun of all her various LPS characters, playsets and accessories to her little sister who loves all things pets and animals at the age of almost five.

She can take all of her favourite LPS pets from the bitter cold of winter and whisk them away to a fun, imagination-fuelled cruise with Hasbro Littlest Pet Shop Cruise Ship Playset! Whether your child is setting sail for relaxation or for adventure, there are so many things for their pets to do on the ship like dancing on the dance floor, rock climbing, surfing and even zip-lining! During downtime, pets can relax on the deck or in their cabin for a snack or maybe a selfie snap!
Kids can fit up to 30 LPS of different sizes inside the ship for play or storage, plenty of room for all the favourites. The playset comes unassembled with 1 Classic-, 1 Mini-, and 1 Teensie-scale pet; 8 accessories; sticker sheet; and instructions. Ages 4+, adult assembly required (no tools needed), $59.99. You can find this and other LPS toys at shops like Toys R Us and Walmart.

Follow @HasbroNews on Twitter, Hasbro on Facebook and Hasbro on Instagram to keep up with the latest on your favourite toys and games!

Subscription gift boxes have become all the rave; you can get just about any kind you can think of from personal care to personal indulges. Do you know somebody who has a sweet tooth and a big love for all things candy? I confess, I do. I am that somebody.

How about monthly candy subscription? Yes, please!

Introducing, Candy Experience.

Founded by Shirleen and Shaun, Candy Experience is a family owned business from Winnipeg M.B. sharing the most amazing candy they find with fellow Canadians in a lovely monthly subscription box - perfect gift idea for the candy lover this Christmas!

Each box comes with 6-7 bags of different candies (some may be sour, some sweet, some salty and some sassy!), up to three pounds of deliciousness for $29.95, 3 or 6-month subscriptions! Other smaller boxes come with 4-5 bags of different candies for $21.95 also with 3 or 6-month choices. Shipping is $9.95.

I was thrilled when Candy Experience sent me my very own box of goodness! In my box I received:
Sour Power Berry/Blue Belts

WOW! Pack a punch with sweet and sour mixed together at once! These Dutch candies are certainly up there on my YUM list! They are soft and chewy with a good punch of fruit flavour mixed with sourness from the sour sugar on them!

Milk Chocolate Covered Raisins

Always a favourite of mine, these ones certainly don't disappoint. They are soft, chewy and sweet. The milk chocolate melts in your mouth. I had to be careful not to eat the whole bag in one sitting.

Root Beer Bottles

Fun and flavourful, these Root Beer Bottles bring me back to my childhood when we'd get penny candy at the corner store. These ones are chewy and full of root beer flavour!

Allan Mini Raspberries

These little jujube candies are hard to resist. Soft and chewy with full raspberry flavour we have all grown to love from Allan candy.

Sour Fruit Slices

A zesty assortment of tiny bite-sized tangy sour candies in six popping flavours including cherry, orange, grape, lemon, lime and watermelon. For a sour candy, these were irresistible and hard to put down!

Strawberry Apple Wrench

These give a good chew, very tangy and a bit more sour than the fruit slices. Not my favourite candy of the bunch but the better half and the kids really loved them!

Strawberry Fruitful Bonbons

We used to get these from our grandparent's house when we were kids. Made in Argentina these are a classic strawberry candy with a fruity filling, even the wrapper looks like a strawberry.

Overall, I am impressed! Everything came in a neat little-personalized package and the assortment of candy in my Candy Experience box was incredible! Everything is delicious and very fresh!

Visit www.Candy.ca to check out different boxes past and present for the people on your holiday shopping list because who doesn't love candy delivered to their door!

With Santa letters written and my mind set on the holidays, it's time to start talking decorations. Oh yes, we just finished our fall fun but now it gets serious because Christmas has to be one of my favourite times of the year.

We are a family who uses the same decorations year after year, adding the odd new item every now and then. Last year, I noticed some of our decorations looking a bit drab, old and used. Don't worry, we always keep the kids' handmade decorations they have lovingly given us every year since they were preschoolers.

We received our artificial tree as a gift a few years ago and it's in pretty good shape for another round of holiday fun this year. I think our next tree will be something like this prelit white tree. There's just something about the white that would make colourful decorations just pop!

Garland. It fills the tree, it makes the tree but I don't have enough to go around the tree. Since our decor is so mixed and matched I think this white garland will give our tree a natural, snowy look.

Christmas stockings are all part of the fun and we don't have an actual mantel to hang them off of; Santa usually just places them around the gifts under the tree. This year, I'd like to have a set of these cute Christmas stocking hooks that can be placed on a mantle, shelf, or wall unit. We just recently painted our living room so nail holes in the walls are out of the question. The hooks would be perfect!

I'm tempted to take Christmas decorating into the kitchen and buy these cute Snowman Kitchen Appliance Handle Covers !  They attach by velcro so I think we are safe from the dogs wanting to pull them off like they did with my festive oven mitts set.

Now, to get busy and start digging through the boxes of holiday memories! How do you decorate for the holiday season?

We are always trying our best to raise well rounded, caring people in our kids and one thing we always try to do is give back to people who are less fortunate, people who don't wake up every morning to the kind of life we too often take for granted, especially around the holiday season.

For a few years now, Kellogg's Rice Krispies has been helping us do just that with the #TreatsForToys campaign. If you don't know what Treats for Toys is all about, let me tell you; it's a really great initiative that only costs you a few ingredients and few minutes of your time (which if you are like me you will be spending on your family anyway), why not help others at the same time.

All you have to do is purchase a box of holiday Kellogg's Rice Krispies and marshmallows, go home and create a Rice Krispies treat inspired by your kids favourite toys. Don't know how to make Rice Krispie squares? The recipe can be found on the top panel of the cereal box; you're welcome.

This is fun and easy, something I've been enjoying doing with the kids in the past. Don't eat the creation right away, wait a minute! Take a picture of the glorious treat created and share it on social media using hashtag #TreatsForToys. This year they're even challenging you to create a moving part of your treat toy creation, something we were unable to accomplish but our treats still came out nice!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh yummy tree!
For every creation shared, Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army to purchase a real toy for a child in need this Christmas. Make, share, give; those three simple words can help create lasting memories for a child to cherish for a lifetime.

For more information about Kellogg's Rice Krispies and #TreatsForToys please visit treatsfortoys.ca!

Our friends at Kellogg want you to participate in the Rice Krispies #TreatsForToys charity too! Enter for your chance to win a Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats For Toys prize pack which includes everything you need to make your treats and decorate them!

Kit includes 2 boxes of cereal, 1 bag of marshmallows, 2-2 lb bags of CANDY, 3 packs of Pop Rocks, 2 Icing tubes and a set of mixing bowls!

Open to Canadians 18+ (excluding Quebec). Mandatory entry must be done for extras to count. One entry per household. Ends December 3rd, 2017. For more information about giveaways please see our disclosure page.

Everyone is preparing for the upcoming holiday season by decorating, buying gifts and planning holiday baking if they haven't already started. Many people are also planning holiday travel with family out of town to holiday vacation escapes.

From late flights to lost luggage, did you know that 1 in 5 parents agree that keeping the kids entertained is their biggest worry while travelling? I don't know about you but I find it much easier to keep kids entertained today than say, 20 years ago when we moms were wee ones.

One technology that still amazes me is Netflix plus the ability to download and watch what you want without worrying about Wifi. No more telling the kids they can't bring the iPad on the road to grandma's house.

From the littlest one to the preteen and ages in between, there are Netflix shows for every member of the family to pack into their carry-ons. Although we LOVE our Netflix originals, you can find more of your favourite shows and movies under "Available for Download" tab in the app and take them with you whenever you want.

Here are a few fun shows you may want to include on the travelling iPad this holiday season:

- Dinotrux Supercharged Season 1
- Glitter Force Doki Doki Season 2
- Project MC² Part 6
- Luna Petunia Season 3
- Spirit: Riding Free Season 3
- Stretch Armstrong & The Flex Fighters Season 1

Vacation Travel Time! Does that sound familiar? Netflix did it again with this fun Orange Is The New Black parody theme for Netflix Family downloads, a place where you can always find the latest updates for your family's Netflixing joy! Have you liked the Netflix Family facebook page? This month Netflix wants to hear about your vacation travel troubles (or miracles) through stories and photos for your chance to be featured!

Don't forget, if you don't already have Netflix you get your first month free* when you sign up!

Happy Streaming!
