They’re small, they’re cute and they’re collectable; Littlest Pet Shop by Hasbro has been a favourite of ours for years beginning with our oldest child starting her own collection at the age of seven. Now that she’s older, she has handed down the fun of all her various LPS characters, playsets and accessories to her little sister who loves all things pets and animals at the age of almost five.

She can take all of her favourite LPS pets from the bitter cold of winter and whisk them away to a fun, imagination-fuelled cruise with Hasbro Littlest Pet Shop Cruise Ship Playset! Whether your child is setting sail for relaxation or for adventure, there are so many things for their pets to do on the ship like dancing on the dance floor, rock climbing, surfing and even zip-lining! During downtime, pets can relax on the deck or in their cabin for a snack or maybe a selfie snap!
Kids can fit up to 30 LPS of different sizes inside the ship for play or storage, plenty of room for all the favourites. The playset comes unassembled with 1 Classic-, 1 Mini-, and 1 Teensie-scale pet; 8 accessories; sticker sheet; and instructions. Ages 4+, adult assembly required (no tools needed), $59.99. You can find this and other LPS toys at shops like Toys R Us and Walmart.

Subscription gift boxes have become all the rave; you can get just about any kind you can think of from personal care to personal indulges. Do you know somebody who has a sweet tooth and a big love for all things candy? I confess, I do. I am that somebody.

How about monthly candy subscription? Yes, please!

Introducing, Candy Experience.

Founded by Shirleen and Shaun, Candy Experience is a family owned business from Winnipeg M.B. sharing the most amazing candy they find with fellow Canadians in a lovely monthly subscription box - perfect gift idea for the candy lover this Christmas!

Each box comes with 6-7 bags of different candies (some may be sour, some sweet, some salty and some sassy!), up to three pounds of deliciousness for $29.95, 3 or 6-month subscriptions! Other smaller boxes come with 4-5 bags of different candies for $21.95 also with 3 or 6-month choices. Shipping is $9.95.

I was thrilled when Candy Experience sent me my very own box of goodness! In my box I received:
Sour Power Berry/Blue Belts

WOW! Pack a punch with sweet and sour mixed together at once! These Dutch candies are certainly up there on my YUM list! They are soft and chewy with a good punch of fruit flavour mixed with sourness from the sour sugar on them!

Milk Chocolate Covered Raisins

Always a favourite of mine, these ones certainly don't disappoint. They are soft, chewy and sweet. The milk chocolate melts in your mouth. I had to be careful not to eat the whole bag in one sitting.

Root Beer Bottles

Fun and flavourful, these Root Beer Bottles bring me back to my childhood when we'd get penny candy at the corner store. These ones are chewy and full of root beer flavour!

Allan Mini Raspberries

These little jujube candies are hard to resist. Soft and chewy with full raspberry flavour we have all grown to love from Allan candy.

Sour Fruit Slices

A zesty assortment of tiny bite-sized tangy sour candies in six popping flavours including cherry, orange, grape, lemon, lime and watermelon. For a sour candy, these were irresistible and hard to put down!

Strawberry Apple Wrench

These give a good chew, very tangy and a bit more sour than the fruit slices. Not my favourite candy of the bunch but the better half and the kids really loved them!

Strawberry Fruitful Bonbons

We used to get these from our grandparent's house when we were kids. Made in Argentina these are a classic strawberry candy with a fruity filling, even the wrapper looks like a strawberry.

Overall, I am impressed! Everything came in a neat little-personalized package and the assortment of candy in my Candy Experience box was incredible! Everything is delicious and very fresh!

With Santa letters written and my mind set on the holidays, it's time to start talking decorations. Oh yes, we just finished our fall fun but now it gets serious because Christmas has to be one of my favourite times of the year.

We are a family who uses the same decorations year after year, adding the odd new item every now and then. Last year, I noticed some of our decorations looking a bit drab, old and used. Don't worry, we always keep the kids' handmade decorations they have lovingly given us every year since they were preschoolers.

We received our artificial tree as a gift a few years ago and it's in pretty good shape for another round of holiday fun this year. I think our next tree will be something like this prelit white tree. There's just something about the white that would make colourful decorations just pop!

Garland. It fills the tree, it makes the tree but I don't have enough to go around the tree. Since our decor is so mixed and matched I think this white garland will give our tree a natural, snowy look.

Christmas stockings are all part of the fun and we don't have an actual mantel to hang them off of; Santa usually just places them around the gifts under the tree. This year, I'd like to have a set of these cute Christmas stocking hooks that can be placed on a mantle, shelf, or wall unit. We just recently painted our living room so nail holes in the walls are out of the question. The hooks would be perfect!

I'm tempted to take Christmas decorating into the kitchen and buy these cute Snowman Kitchen Appliance Handle Covers !  They attach by velcro so I think we are safe from the dogs wanting to pull them off like they did with my festive oven mitts set.

Now, to get busy and start digging through the boxes of holiday memories! How do you decorate for the holiday season?

We are always trying our best to raise well rounded, caring people in our kids and one thing we always try to do is give back to people who are less fortunate, people who don't wake up every morning to the kind of life we too often take for granted, especially around the holiday season.

For a few years now, Kellogg's Rice Krispies has been helping us do just that with the #TreatsForToys campaign. If you don't know what Treats for Toys is all about, let me tell you; it's a really great initiative that only costs you a few ingredients and few minutes of your time (which if you are like me you will be spending on your family anyway), why not help others at the same time.

All you have to do is purchase a box of holiday Kellogg's Rice Krispies and marshmallows, go home and create a Rice Krispies treat inspired by your kids favourite toys. Don't know how to make Rice Krispie squares? The recipe can be found on the top panel of the cereal box; you're welcome.

This is fun and easy, something I've been enjoying doing with the kids in the past. Don't eat the creation right away, wait a minute! Take a picture of the glorious treat created and share it on social media using hashtag #TreatsForToys. This year they're even challenging you to create a moving part of your treat toy creation, something we were unable to accomplish but our treats still came out nice!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh yummy tree!
For every creation shared, Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army to purchase a real toy for a child in need this Christmas. Make, share, give; those three simple words can help create lasting memories for a child to cherish for a lifetime.

Everyone is preparing for the upcoming holiday season by decorating, buying gifts and planning holiday baking if they haven't already started. Many people are also planning holiday travel with family out of town to holiday vacation escapes.

From late flights to lost luggage, did you know that 1 in 5 parents agree that keeping the kids entertained is their biggest worry while travelling? I don't know about you but I find it much easier to keep kids entertained today than say, 20 years ago when we moms were wee ones.

One technology that still amazes me is Netflix plus the ability to download and watch what you want without worrying about Wifi. No more telling the kids they can't bring the iPad on the road to grandma's house.

From the littlest one to the preteen and ages in between, there are Netflix shows for every member of the family to pack into their carry-ons. Although we LOVE our Netflix originals, you can find more of your favourite shows and movies under "Available for Download" tab in the app and take them with you whenever you want.

Here are a few fun shows you may want to include on the travelling iPad this holiday season:

- Dinotrux Supercharged Season 1
- Glitter Force Doki Doki Season 2
- Project MC² Part 6
- Luna Petunia Season 3
- Spirit: Riding Free Season 3
- Stretch Armstrong & The Flex Fighters Season 1

Vacation Travel Time! Does that sound familiar? Netflix did it again with this fun Orange Is The New Black parody theme for Netflix Family downloads, a place where you can always find the latest updates for your family's Netflixing joy! Have you liked the Netflix Family facebook page? This month Netflix wants to hear about your vacation travel troubles (or miracles) through stories and photos for your chance to be featured!

Don't forget, if you don't already have Netflix you get your first month free* when you sign up!

Happy Streaming!

One of our favourite characters from Transformers: The Last Knight, Sqweeks the Autobot, comes to life in this fun new remote control toy from Hasbro! In the new movie, Sqweeks is the smallest of Transformers but big in many ways. He lives to help all living beings - robot or human.

Autobot Sqweeks RC features motion and sound effects just like the loveable Autobot Amigo with tons of different phrases and sounds.  Playful doesn't mean tough, switch him into blaster mode with his included movie-inspired accessory. After winning the battle celebrate with an energetic dance mode including fun music and catchy phrases. Comes with remote control and blaster accessory. Powered by 6 1.5V AA batteries (not included). Ages 6 and up!

I for one am impressed with the detail on the toy, it's pretty close to the Sqweeks in the movie, he even has little rust spots! Check out the official TV commercial below to see him in action!

I can't wait to gift him this holiday season! Excellent gift idea for the Transformers fan in your family! I know we have a few here! You can find Hasbro's Autobot Sqweeks RC robot at local toy retailers like Toys R Us or Walmart.

As the holidays roll around we are getting our homes (and ourselves) ready for the big celebration. How about your nails? I put my nails through a lot on a daily basis from typing to dishwashing and being clumsy, hitting my already weak nails causing breaks, tears, splits and more. Plus, I also like doing my nails with false enhancements or nail polishes which cause my nails to dry out faster. Usually, my go-to fix-it is lots of moisturizing with unscented hand cream and nail oils which is great to help them get healthier but it doesn't always help exactly how I want it to. I still have the curse of non-existent nail growth despite my attempts to try every trick in the book to help them grow long and strong naturally. I think I may have found my new favourite nail care products.

My friends over at Trind sent me over their popular Nail Care line to try out for myself. Founded in 1988, Trind is one of Europe's top trusted hand and nail care companies located in the Netherlands. You can find Trind in the finest perfumeries across Europe, USA and also Canada!

With the Trind Nail Care collection, its easier than ever to maintain healthy nails.

First things first, filing into shape. Usually, I use an everyday nail file to smooth out rough edges and shape any unshapely nails but I have now since changed my ways. Trind Glass Nail File is made of the finest glass *watch out for crystal imitations which can damage your nails!* made to file smooth and not grind or tear your nails. Made of durable tempered glass, unlike other files this one can last a lifetime with proper care.

The cuticle is the skin around the bottom of your nailbed. A lot of the time manicurists make a big mistake and cut it off with nippers when preparing the nails for a new manicure. Not only can this be painful but it can also cause damage like cuts which may allow bacteria to enter and then you have some major problems.

Instead, use Trind Cuticle Remover which is a gentle solution made to soften the cuticles allowing you to simply push them down and remove any dead skin painlessly with an orange stick. Brush it on and allow it to absorb into the skin, wiping off any excess left over. Use it once every 4 weeks to clean up the cuticles!

Next, I used the Trind Cuticle Balsam which brings extra moisture to the cuticles. Just brush it on and allow it to absorb, massaging any excess into the skin until dry.

Equalize and stimulate natural nail moisture by using the Trind Nail Magic Buffer once every 4 weeks. This 3-step buffer helps exfoliate dried out cells on the surface of your nails.

Lock in the moisture with Trind Nail Balsam; apply and let absorb, rub the excess into nails and cuticles until dry.

Finish off the regime with my favourite of them all, Trind Nail Repair Natural which acts as a shield to protect and strengthen the nails. Brush on a coat, let it dry (dries within minutes).

Do this every day for two weeks for maximum results, removing old coats using Trind Polish Remover which is extra mild and acetone free. I love the shiny gloss coat it gives my nails while protecting them from everyday damage.

With healthy nails you want healthy hands; nourish and replenish skins moisture using Trind Hand Repair everyday.

I have only been using the system for a couple of days but already I am seeing a major difference in my nails. I can't wait to see what two weeks will do! Check out my Instagram for an update in a couple of weeks!

You can find the full line of Trind nailcare and "Caring Colours" polishes on the official Trind website. Follow Trind on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates!

UPDATE: Although this product didn't exactly help me grow my nails, it does help protect my nails between false manicures! Two (polished) thumbs up!

My youngest daughter has extremely long hair, she won't let me cut it. Which is fine because I get to try different pretty hair styles on her and she doesn't mind having her hair in braids for school. On more than one occasion we have went somewhere and had someone refer to my little blondie as "Rapunzel", it's only fitting that princess will be under the tree this year!

Everyone's favourite, long-locked Disney princess is brought to life with Glow N Style Rapunzel doll from Jakks Pacific! Her hair, of course, is what makes her very special! Having two sisters means a lot of Barbie, little pets and pony talk. While they spread their sparkles and giggle at the cuteness, he’s in his bedroom building up a storm with his favourite, LEGO!

Under the tree and new to his collection, LEGO Super Heroes Knightcrawler Tunnel Attack will be bringing him hours (if not days or even weeks,) of building adventures. This 622 piece set comes with everything he needs to build and ride Batman's all-terrain vehicle and reclaim The Mother Box from the evil parademons with the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Knightcrawler Tunnel Attack. The Knightcrawler features 4 posable limbs, each with 2-wheel tracks, plus dual 6-stud rapid shooters and a cockpit for Batman. Includes 4 minifigures: Batman, The Flash and two Parademons. Ages 7-14 $64.99CAD

Big fun small enough to fit in a stocking, LEGO Super Heroes Mighty Micros Spider-Man vs. Scorpion will make a mighty micro addition to his LEGO collection. With his 79 piece set he can play out a daring duel between Spider-Man and his venomous enemy, Scorpion. Scorpion’s Mighty Micros car features movable pincers and tail with a sting, while Spider-Man’s blue and red buggy features exhaust pipes. The super villain also has a mini-scorpion to match Spider-Man’s mini-spider. Includes two minifigures with mini legs. Ages 5-12 $12.99CAD

No matter what the set, his imagination can soar. He creates some really awesome things that only his mind could come up with. Despite LEGO being deemed one of the most painful toys to step on barefoot, it's always welcome in our home! ;-)

Choosing our children’s way of education is an important decision we have to make at a fairly early age. I know we were discussing school options long before our babies were even ready for preschool. There are so many questions to ask when choosing where to send our children to school and to me, the only way to make a good decision is to make an educated decision based on what’s best for my family and my kids.

Growing up both my spouse and I attended Catholic schools. That means we were exposed to the kinds of morals and value systems that we now want our children to grow up with: kindness, generosity, the value of friends and the everlasting love of family. The decision for us was a simple one: Catholic school for all.

Times have sure changed but one thing hasn’t; having our kids in Catholic school has opened them up to a world of new experiences and learning values that we strongly believe in. Our elementary and high school are great examples. They are very community-based and everyone is treated like one big family. The teachers, especially for the younger aged children understand that education is more than just ABC’s and 123’s.

Catholic teachers promote fairness, compassion, respect, concern for social justice and the environment as priority values to help their students become engaged and contributing citizens. In fact, graduates from Catholic schools even participate in elections, donations to charities, and volunteer in their communities at very high rates.

Catholic teachers teach lessons for life. They help shape the characters and values of the children they teach; because, in the end, life is the real test. I am proud to have chosen a Catholic school from the beginning. With the right positive guidance, my kids will be set for life after school.

I may get pitchforked for saying this as "early" as it is but I've been thinking about Christmas presents for the past several weeks. Not ones for me (well, maybe a few) but for everyone else. I'm a big gift giver, I love making people smile especially during the holidays. I've even picked up a few ahead of time.

Call me crazy but I can't help but think of someone who would love what I just found an amazing deal for. I always know if we don't do it now, it'll be never. The closer you get to the holidays, the slimmer the pickings become for what you really want to give them under the tree this year.

I don't know about your kids but mine have been rhyming off things they are hoping for the last few months!  From LEGO sets to Barbie, Fisher-Price for the little ones and video games for the tweens/teens, Amazon has a great holiday toy list to help us pick out the perfect toy for our kids, nieces, and nephews!

Now that the kiddos are covered, giving a gift someone can actually use is always appreciated, I've heard Instant Pot  is an amazing tool to add to the kitchen, it may or may not be on my own gift list.

Know someone who doesn't know the amazing mornings with a good coffee or tea, introduce them to a new Keurig. A gift like this isn't complete without a new set of cute mugs to go with it!

Looking for something for the tool guy? Check out this great assortment of Ryobi tools!

Oh, if you didn't notice, Amazon not only has holiday shopping guides but also Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales going on for over 50 days! Combine that with Amazon Prime's FREE shipping and you have everyone on your holiday gift list accounted for!

Happy shopping!
