Summer holidays (for the kids) are just days away which means we are going to be thinking of places to go and things to see this summer; you know, to keep everybody’s sanity intact and all.

Here is a list of things to do and places to see right here in Ottawa this summer that I thought you would all like!

Museums and History.
Ottawa has several museums to check out such as the Canadian Museum of nature, the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum, Canada Agriculture and Food Museum and one of my favourites, the Museum of Science and Technology.
Parliament Hill will give you a taste of Canada with its historical buildings. There is usually a fun party on the hill for Canada Day too!

Recreational Parks.
Jacques Cartier Park isn’t in Ottawa but a quick trip over the bridge to the Quebec side will have you loving the outdoors.

Amusement Parks.
Just outside Ottawa, you can find Calypso Waterpark (Limoges) and Parc Omega (Montebello), both of which are personal family favourites.

In the city.
Various malls like Rideau Centre, St. Laurent Shopping Centre, Bayshore and more await your discovery.
The Byward Market also offers various activities during the summer, fresh market goods to purchase and great dining at different restaurants. If you are from out of town there are lots of great hotels downtown as well as buses to take you wherever you need to go throughout the city.

We have been living in Ottawa for over 10 years and although it has changed over the while, we still love our city and hope you do too. What are some fun things you can do where you live? Leave a comment below, let's chat!

If you’re a mom, you probably have one too; a summer bag. That one bag (aside from your purse) that you grab on any outing during the summer with your kids. This bag is like the sacred bag to keep your family fun from unravelling into a complete disaster. Well, maybe not so dramatic but you always make sure to have the tools you need to keep everyone safe and happy. What’s in your summer bag?

- Hand sanitizer
- Lipbalm

- Sunscreen
- Bandaids (including the liquid kind and spray peroxide)
- Polysporon
- A mass amount of clean tissues
- Wet wipes
- Light snacks (individually packaged crackers, granola bars, rice crispy treats, etc)
- Extra phone charger
- Extra sunglasses
- Change purse (preferably with a little cash in it!)
- Somebody’s (usually my youngest child’s) change of clean clothes, just in case.

What are you favourite "go-to" summer items to keep on hand? Have I missed anything important? Share in the comments below, let's chat! :)

Living in silence to survive, this movie isn’t for the kids.

“If they hear you, they will hunt you.” - THE creepiest tag line!

A Quiet Place is a fantastic movie, the story, the acting from stars stars Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, it’s just great. It’s about a family’s survival against monsters who have super sonic hearing and they of course eat people. The family has to live in absolute silence to survive in a bunker and figure out a way to defeat the monsters. Throughout the movie you just want to scream for the family, it’s very suspenseful! It’s one of those movies you walk into thinking it won’t be good but it turns out to be the total opposite to what you thought in a good way, we enjoyed it.

You can bring home A Quiet Place on Digital June 26th, 2018
On 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™ & DVD July 10th!

This will be the last Kindergarten post ever on AME! My youngest graduated Kindergarten this morning; officially a grade 1er this fall.

The weather wasn’t nice today, it was grey and rainy. We had to run to a bank machine before heading to the school and of course, caught every single red light on the way. The traffic lights in the area are excruciatingly long for some reason or maybe they felt long because we were on a tight time crunch to make it to the bank, grab the first coffee of the morning and book it to celebrate with our little girl.

I felt bad because we were seven minutes late BUT we made it. When we walked into the gym I could see her standing at the front of the gymnasium with her class. She looked sad. She had that heartbreaking look that mommy and daddy weren’t there. We were surprised by her big brother who got a free pass out of class to also join his sister's celebration. The three of us managed to get her attention and her face lit right up! All she wanted was us there, that’s all they ever want.

We watched a slideshow of the kids singing an alphabet song “A Is for Apple etc”. Miss M was letter M, cute. Her class went on to perform some songs they had been practising. Miss M had been practising almost daily at home too. They were so cute with their little grad caps!

Each kid was called up one by one to get a little certificate and a book. There were a lot of people so it was hard to get a shot but I did get a little video clip of her “sliding” into grade 1, which is even better.

I love how the school made it extra special for them! They’re only little once, right!

Kindergarten may seem small to some people but it’s the first step into the rest of their school lives, it’s actually one of the biggest steps of all! Being the youngest, I was worried about our littlest girl heading off into the big world but so far she's been doing just fine.

We've been told on more than one occasion that she's a delight to have in class. She is friends with just about everybody and enjoys every minute of school. Throughout the year when we've had P.D. days or holidays, she would get so upset because she had to miss school. She's the only kid I've ever known to hate snow days! I hope she continues with her enthusiasm not only for school but for life!

Congratulations to our Kinder Grad 2018!

Summer is coming which means we will be out and about more than usual. With today’s technology, it’s easier than ever to secure your home with a quality web camera that not only is wireless but also runs with its own app.

The EZVIZ Mini O Cam uses 720 HD Video, 111-degree Wide-Angle lens, night vision, two-way audio and night vision; keeping your family (and your mind) at ease 24/7.
