The kids are finished with school for the year and summer is officially here! This means lots of fun and lots of family trips! Whether they be day trip outings or travelling to see the grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles - we always try to be prepared with the things we need as well as a couple of things to keep the kids entertained during the ride.

For kids of all ages it's a no-brainer to bring a device loaded with apps to keep them content for a little while. Games are fun for older kids but if you have smaller ones under the age of six, why not bring their favourite Treehouse TV friends along for the trip also?

TreehouseGO! is an app you won't want to leave home without downloading. Available to most cable service providers, you can bring your Treehouse favourites with you and watch anywhere.

The app is free to download and easy for little kids to use. Miss M, who is two and a half likes this app. Of course she also likes anything themed with her favourite Treehouse friends!

In the app you can find a simple menu that scrolls across letting your child choose which character they want. Once they tap on  the character, a menu with various videos opens up. Shows include My Big Big Friend, Dora the explorer, Max and Ruby, Little Charmers, Toopy and Binoo, and many more!

If you want to unlock the videos you can simply sign in to your Cable service provider through the app for instant access. If you aren't a cable or satellite TV subscriber you get a sample of what TreehouseGO has to offer.

The "Live Stream" icon allows you to watch Treehouse TV live as it airs. The TreehouseGO app hosts the most up-to-date and top rated Treehouse programming to stream. The It's like having cable TV on the go except geared special just for your little one. Tap on the Dora in the top left corner to sign in.

There's also a handy "My Backpack" that allows you to download videos and watch them even without internet access. Perfect for those rainy nights at the camper!

There are parental controls you can access with a number code provided in the app. The code changes each time you access or if little ones try to figure it out (unless they can read). You can change your settings at any time and prevent little ones from making accidental changes. Access the controls by tapping the icon on the top right corner. You can also sign in this way.

By the way, when you first sign in you might notice a screen with a cool 20% discount on tickets to Treehouse Big Day Out plus a free Splash n' Boots printable colouring page!

The next time you take a family trip, have an appointment and are stuck waiting or any other similar situation, download the TreehouseGO app and smile. Follow Corus Entertainment on twitter

Available on Apple and Android devices.

Summer time is all about letting loose and having fun. It's normal for kids to want to be outside playing with friends, riding bikes and going swimming among other activities. If you are like me and worry about your little one learning over the summer months, even preparing for school come september, you are not at a loss!

Make summer learning fun with Hot Wheels FUNdamentals, not your average school type learning. Hot Wheels offers kids the opportunity to learn while playing with some of their favourite toys!

Established in 2012 and designed for home or the classroom, the Hot Wheels FUNdamentals Learning Program gives children from Kindergarten to grade one the opportunity to learn basic skills, including counting, colouring language, patterns and more.

With Hot Wheels you can keep your little one on top of their learning with their very own Hot Wheels 3D Summer Activity Cityscape. With relevant content and activities online, kids can participate in programs that range from math to science, to visual arts and language.

To help carry over the great learning your little ones will achieve with FUNdamentals this summer, FUNdamentals will be incorporated into various classrooms across Canada in September. This will reach more than 150,000 teachers and kids in our country! To help ensure this program comes to your child's classroom, I encourage you to reach out to the teacher or principal of your school and ask about implementing the program with their own students!

You can learn more about the Hot Wheels FUNdamentals program by visiting http://www.hotwheelslearning.ca/

Sign up for free and download activity books and other learning materials for your little one to use this summer!

One thing is for certain, whatever we do we do it for our babies. There is nothing we wouldn't do to make it better for baby. From the first moments of life, soothing our newborns to kissing boo-boo's. It's those moments in life that make it #BetterForBaby.
Pampers knows how special the little moments are between a mom and her baby - and with the whole family. To celebrate every one of those special little moments, @Pampers wants to share this beautiful little video with you! #BetterForBaby

The video displays the beautiful bond between mother and baby, it also displays how the world helps in small ways. We will do anything for our babies and make the world #BetterForBaby.

Oh Canada, our home and native land! We are proud to be Canadian and my daughter is thrilled to be able to share this Canada Day with her favourite doll, her Maplelea Doll named Leonie that she got for Christmas last year

She has befriended this doll like no other. She loves her so much that after her brother accidentally dropped the doll and marked her face, my daughter didn't want to send her to the spa to get replaced. She said it wouldn't be the same doll, Leonie and her have special memories.

Canada Day is coming up July 1st, both my daughter and Leonie will be prepared with their new Maplelea Canada t-shirt for girls and matching Maplelea doll outfit! The outfit comes with a cute Canada shirt, a hat, red shorts and a Canadian flag!

Have Pan Am fever? Celebrate your favourite sport with a new themed outfit for your Maplelea girl doll! Leone is sporting the volleyball themed "Serve, Set, Spike" outfit which comes with a shirt, shorts, socks, headband, knee pads and a volley ball! You can also get other outfits for sports like tennis, running, basketball, gymnastics and sailing. The outfits are adorable and excellent quality, just like the dolls themselves.

In case you live close to Toronto or may be in the area around the time, wanted to remind you about the Maplelea meet up happening at Black Creek Pioneer Village on July 5th! You can learn more about this event on the Facebook event page! Oh if we lived in the area you could bet your buttons we would be there with Leonie in hand!

I know, June is officially Dad's month to shine with Father's Day but I just couldn't help but share this new #ThankYouMom video from P&G!

P&G is celebrating all moms and everything they do to raise athletes and great kids. This inspiring video features Canadian Olympic Heptathlete, Brianne Theisen-Eaton and her Mom, Kim. Brianne and her mom trust brands like Tide, Cascade, Dawn and Bounty, to make sure they are always competition ready!

Check out the video below!

Although I am not an athlete, I did grow up with a mom who always did her best to make sure my brother and I had everything we need. We always used P&G products around the home like Tide and Dawn for everyday living, I still use them and many other products on a daily basis!

Don't miss the #ThankYouMom Twitter Party happening MONDAY JUNE 22nd at 8pm EDT! Follow the host and moderators to find out how to RSVP for prizes!

Nicer weather means much more outdoor activity. What better way to take advantage and use it as an opportunity to teach our kids about the earth and how things grow! Envirokidz believe that cereal can save the world - or better yet, kids can!

With the help of mom and dad, Envirokidz help cultivate future eco-ambassadors from the ground up! They tap kids curiosity and grow their understanding of the environment that their animal mascots live in, as well as the environment our kids live in.

What this means is getting outside and getting dirty, the best part of growing up! Kids love digging, so why not let them help in the garden or even start their own mini-garden?

You can get pint sized gardening tools and let them pick out their very own seeds! Kids are proud of their work and they won't even realize they are learning while having fun! We have done this with our kids both indoors planting potted plants and outdoors.

It not only teaches kids about the earth and the environment around them but also how to give back to the earth and #HelpGoodThingsGrow.

You can learn more about Envirokidz products and their efforts to educate kids about the environment and wildlife by visiting the official Envirokidz website.

Dad is a man of many hats. He's a hard worker, he contributes and takes care of his family in more ways than one. He stands side by side with mom to keep things running smoothly. June is Dads month and Fathers Day is right around the corner!

When we became first time parents back in 2004, my hubby knew as much as I did about taking care of a newborn. It didn't stop him. He wasn't afraid to dive in and take care of the middle of the night diaper changes or hold our newborn daughter when she couldn't sleep because she was colicky. As we added two more babies to our family over the years, he has become a better man and father each time.

He is superman in the kids eyes and that makes me proud. There's nothing he can't do according to them. There's nothing he wouldn't do for them, too.

This Father’s Day, Pampers is excited to celebrate Dad and recognize him for everything he does for his family. Check out the video below from Pampers, honouring dad.

One thing we haven't talked about this Father's Day week is what he would like to have for dinner. I know if mine had the ultimate choice it would be along the lines of steak or maybe burgers with his famous poutine.

Margarine is an essential ingredient in most of what we cook here at home. When we think of foods that contain "good fats" we tend to think along the lines of avocados, salmon, nuts and seeds but did you know a soft, non-hydrogenated margarine made from a blend of plant oil is also part of the good fats family? We learn something new everyday!

This Father's Day treat him to something extra special with one of these tasty recipes courtesy of Becel margarine. Why Becel? Because Becel is a surprisingly easy, versatile and delicious way to get good fats into your daily diet.

Becel margarine can be substituted on a 1:1 ratio for butter in almost any recipe (including baked goods!). Not all margarines are the same either, I know this from first hand experience. Traditionally, hard-stick margarine contains trans fat. When choosing your margarine, opt in for soft, non-hydrogenated like Becel that is low in saturated fats and has no trans fat.

For the Father's Day BBQ try zesty Grilled Thai Turkey Burgers, these could end up being part of our Father's Day weekend tradition! If you like spicy and zesty, these are the burgers for you! I can tell you I am not one for spicy food all the time but these look and sound delicious just from reading the recipe! I would definitely love to try them on Father's Day or during another festivity this coming summer!

For a side of goodness,
Corn On The Cob Topping Twisters. I don't know why I hadn't thought of these myself. A simple, healthy and delicious add on to any BBQ meal - even when it's not Father's Day!

The best part about both these recipes is that they are customizable. You can add and use ingredients that suit his taste and make it his special dinner.

Whatever you decide to make him for his special day, give him the benefit of heart healthy eating with Becel margarine. For more information about ways you can incorporate heart health into your life with Becel visit www.becel.ca

Summertime is all about celebrations in our family. Whether it be celebrating Canada Day, a family birthday, milestone or just getting together with close family and friends for an intimate dinner - we make a reason to celebrate.

What's a celebration without a delicious meal? Cooked in the oven or on the BBQ, we are here to entertain our guests with great company and great food!

To help create magical events, The Food Network Chef Michael Smith has teamed up with Cascade Platinum to share tips on how to make your dinner parties sparkle and shine with these helpful tips and tricks!

1 - Spend time to save time: Prep as much in advance as you can from food to the table. Smart preparation will give you more time to spend with your guests!

2 - Make your guests feel special: Thoughtful details tell your guests they are special. Set the mood with music, place cards, flowers and sparkling dishes and glasses. Chef Michael uses Cascade Platinum in every cycle to make sure everything is ready for a big event.

3 - Start with a bang! Do something colletively right away. A group activity subtly reminds everyone "We're in this together!"

4 - give your guests something fun to do: At some point, engage your guests in an interactive activity, something hands on that's not work.

5 - Clean as you go: Get the mess out of the way, and load the dishwasher as you prepare dinner (or if you are like me and don't have a dishwasher, wash them as you go). With Cascade Platinum, you don't need to worry about pre-rinsing. It cleans up the stuck on food in one wash, my mom uses Cascade when we visit with all the kids, I can tell you it works!

6 - Share the work: Many hands make light work. After the main meal and before dessert, encourage everybody to picth in with clean up.

7 - Grand Finale: End the evening with something spectaacular, something memorable, or Chef Michael's favourite - something flammable

You don't have to host a party to have a #SparklingClean dinner. Sitting down to family dinner is always a special occasion every day! It brings us all closer together, one meal at a time. Why not give your family a special dinner by putting Michael's tips to work! With Cascade Platinum, you're sure to have sparkling clean dishes every day!

Visit www.foodnetwork.ca/cascade for more tips and recipes from Chef Michael Smith and Cascade Platinum.

It's hard to believe we are half way through June! Everything is winding down as far as school is concerned. I think we are all ready for some summer fun and the daily lunch-for-tomorrow making to be over with for another year!

This summer we have a few fun things with the kids planned like day trips and BBQ's. One thing for sure I know we are going to do more than once is take the kids out for a family picnic. We make it pretty simple by packing a lunch, snacks, drinks and what have you in a cooler bag to go along with a towel or large blanket to sit on. We choose a place to settle down and let the kids enjoy it. Usually at a park or on the sidelines of the splash pad where there are picnic tables. It would be nice to maybe take Dad out for a Father's Day picnic and have the kids help out in packing a special lunch for him!

One thing we could also pack into our basket (besides a healthy lunch) is Kinder Surprise! They can be fragile so if you are worried about cracking the egg before your kids get the chance, you can store them in a lemon keeper or if you don't have one of those why not a microwave egg cooker! They are made in the shape of eggs after all!

If you feel like being crafty, you can save some egg cartons and have the kids decorate them. When you go out and want to bring some #Kindersmiles, store the eggs in the egg carton. You can always cut them to hold 2, 4 or 6 eggs.

Speaking of Kinder Surprise, have you seen the minion craze over on the Kinder Canada Facebook page? You can check out their official photos and see which toys are available in specially marked Kinder Surprise! There are 11 to collect!

On June 12th, don't forget to join us for an extra fun Facebook Page giveaway! Kinder Canada wants to hear all about the Dad's in your life and how you plan to celebrate Father's day! There are some fun father's day Kinder-themed gift baskets to be won so mark your calendars!

As always you can also show some love to Kinder Canada by following @KinderCanada on Twitter and use hashtag #Kindersmiles to see what the other #KinderMoms and #KinderDads are up to!

Things are a lot different for my kids than when I was a child. I grew up in the country, so being outside was a daily thing in the summer.  My parents never minded, they always knew where we were and who were with. Today, we live in the city and it isn't the same type of neighbourhood I grew up in. You don't have the same sense of community but that doesn't stop us.

When we moved here, we wanted this house for a reason - it's right across the street from a park. This park has a basketball net (mostly occupied by older teens in the summer), a play structure and swings for little kids, a play structure and swings for older kids plus a huge soccer field that is only occupied some week nights and the odd saturday by organized sports. Plus, if we take a nice walk together we can easily find a splash pad or swimming pool to really have some fun with. It gets the kids out and active plus gets everybody out as a family.

Even if we don't make it to the park or splash pad every day of the summer, we have fun right in our own backyard. The kids have a box of sporting goods like basketballs, soccer balls, baseballs, gloves, rackets, birdies, water blasters and more. We also have a trampoline which the kids can be found on jumping away most sunny days. Although my kids aren't currently on an organized kids sport team, we still strongly believe in outdoor play and keeping them active. They get enough screen time during the winter months, once the sun is out and the snow all melts, there isn't an excuse not to get out and play.

Little miss M wants to know, how you do get out and play?

Did you know that nine out of ten kids don't get enough daily exercise? It's an epidemic of inactivity and it's one that Canadian Tire is committed to changing. That's why they launched a new initiative to encourage more play on June 5th.

Canadians are encouraged to get active and share photos or videos of how they play tagging @CanadianTire and using hashtag #WannaPlay!

So, go ahead. Ask your family if they #wannaplay!

The internet is a vast pool of online shopping resources. While one may have had to run out to a specialty shop to get what they need or simply want, in today's age this isn't necessary as you probably already know. It's great because it gives those without the opportunity to get out and about whenever their shopping desire pops up to be able to browse at their own convenience and shop from home.

More and more shops are popping up on the web and I want to tell you about one in particular that not only allows customers to browse and buy hundreds of top name products but it also gives back to those who need it most.

This Counts Canada is a Canadian owned and operated e-commerce retail website that provides its members with a fun and rewarding personalized marketplace just for them.

Users are able to discover, buy, collect, and share amazing products from trusted stores and independent boutiques worldwide by supporting great causes.

This Counts Canada works with various retail stores from around the world to give customers a shopping experience with a purpose.

As members, customers get direct access to a constantly expanding collection of premium products. Most importantly, a portion of each and every purchase is dontated to a charitable organization including Ronald McDonald House and Breakfast Club Canada to name a couple, supported by retail partners - making each and every purchase count.

How it works:

People can visit www.thiscounts.ca and sign up to be a member, it's free! Once your signed up, you get full access to the website and you can let the shopping begin. Shopping categories include men, women, home & decor, electronics, health & beauty plus more.

It's quite easy to get lost and carried away on a website like this. There are so many different items, different prices too. From clothing to things around the home, this could get dangerous! I really like this Hudiefly coloured owl vegan leather purse, it's cute and the price is not bad plus, free shipping!

This purse is just a small taste of what This Counts Canada has to offer it's members. I think this is a great way to shop and give at the same time. Father's Day is this weekend and although it might be too late to ship some things, you could always check out the men's section and get him something just because. You'll be giving two gifts at the same time. One for Dad and a charitable contribution from your purchase. Save even more and use promo code 10COUNTS 10% off!

We are already two weeks into June and I can already feel the phasing in to summer holiday mode beginning. June brings us such beauty and vibrancy of gardens and flowers. It also brings us the opportunity to celebrate the men in our lives like our spouses, our grandfathers, fathers, uncles and anyone else who is called "Dad".

Any man can be a father but it takes special ones to really be "Dad".

He is a hard worker, he provides for his family in more ways than one. He is the one the kids turn to when mom won't let them get their way, they know his sweet-talk can sometimes change her mind.

He is the one who stays up later than everybody else to double check that all the doors and windows are secure, making sure his family is safe while we sleep. He is the type of man who will voluntarily go to the 24 hour Loblaws at 10pm because we ran out of diapers, even if it was my fault for not mentioning it earlier.

Besides the thoughtful cards and gifts, we give the Dad of our household Father's Day every day by taking care of him the way he takes care of us. I cook healthy meals and make sure the family is fed those groceries he just went and shopped for us. He is the type of Dad who will wake up at 3am to check on his feverish kids and take care of them while I sleep. He understands what it takes to raise a family.

When it comes to his health, that is the only thing I wish he would take better care of honestly. He puts everything into anything he does except taking care of himself. He doesn't sleep much, he will eat well when I cook his meals but his personal choices can sometimes raise my eyebrow. Being French-Canadian he has a mad love of poutine!

I'm happy at least I am sometimes able convince him to have a shake made with Orange Naturals ND shake for men! It gives him whatever vitamins and nutrients he may be lacking in his daily diet, I know the women's ND shake works for me!

Speaking of Orange Naturals, there are some great healthy tips, tricks and recipes on the #ONatural blog you might want to check out! Almost 5 billion times a day, P&G brands touch the lives of people around the world. And P&G people work to make sure those brands live up to their promise to make everyday life just a little bit better, now and for generations to come.

P&G Canada is celebrating 100 years! It's amazing how products we have come to know and love have evolved over the years. Check out this interesting infographic below:

Most products listed from 1984 and up, I can probably remember seeing throughout my childhood at one time or another. My parents, grandparents and family friends all used these household products. It makes me proud to know a name so trusted as P&G can be part of my own family today. Keep up the good work, here's to the next 100 years! :)

Ever have one of those moments where you just want something sweet but not too sweet and it has to have chocolate in it? Yeah, I had one of those moments myself recently. I remembered seeing something about peanut butter bites on my facebook newsfeed not too long ago and decided since I had some peanut butter with chocolate to use up, why not try a shot at my own choco-PB Bites! Super easy, no bake and not bad if I say so myself!

What you need:

1/2 cup PB with chocolate
1 tsp regular smooth peanut butter
1 cup oats/oatmeal
1/2 cup dried fruit or nuts (I happened to throw in 1/2 cup of Nature's Path Love Crunch granola cereal and this also worked perfect)
1/4 cup honey

Step 1 - mix your PB's and honey until smooth

Step 2 - mix in the other ingredients

Step 3 - roll into small balls

Step 4 - cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour (or overnight)

What I like about this recipe besides being simple to make is that you can mix and match, use different ingredients to suit your taste! If you like peanut butter with a little crunch, these are perfect for you. Makes a great after school or after the kids are in bed snack.

Summer is just around the corner which means we will be preparing for some fun activities with the kids and events that can last all day. From BBQ's with family and friends to day-long outings, I want to look fresh this summer.

We all know how damaging the elements of summer can be on the skin, it doesn't take much to feel dried out. Along with my daily dose of sunscreen, Olay's newly enhanced Total Effects formula with 40% more vitamins will give me that fresh face to take on the hot and sunny days of summer. If you are looking for a non greasy, moisturizing cream you should add Olay Total Effects to your morning and/or bedtime routine.

Summer is full of opportunities for close-ups with the family. No need to rush off to the dentist for a special treatment because Crest will have my smile camera ready in no time with new Crest Luxe Supreme Whitestrips. They are super easy to use and offer great results! It beats spending $500 on a whitening treatment plus you can do it right at home. I've tried other Crest whitestrips before, these do work wonders for a quick fix and a brighter smile!

We are already in June and before we know it the kids will be tossing their school bags and getting ready for summer fun as classes settle down but the excitement of the summer holidays hypes up.

Although we have been taking advantage of the nice days that the end of May graced us with, we surely can't wait for summer to really get here. The swimming, the BBQs and the memories - it's all about family fun!

Every summer we try our best to find fun things for not only the kids but the whole family to do. We attempted to sign K up for summer camp this year, at least a week but unfortunately there was a waiting list we were unaware of and it doesn't look like there will be a space for her after all. We are disappointed but looking at the bright side, at least it gives her more time to participate in things we do this summer!

We have lots of fun and exciting things planned for most of the summer like day trips to fun attractions, special events we know the kids will have a blast at, birthday celebrations (my oldest turns 11 this summer!), BBQs and more! I can't tell you exactly what just yet, you'll have to wait and see!

Grocery shopping can be a daunting task. Shopping with three kids is a challenge on its own, add on spending time going up and down aisles looking for the best of the best for our family. Have you ever tried to figure out which foods are best for your family simply by reading the nutritional facts off the side of the package? Time consuming and not to mention it can be confusing. We want to get the best for our money and we want to know what we are paying for at the end of the day.

Guiding Stars take the guesswork out of choosing the best foods for our family and makes grocery shopping a whole lot easier when it comes to making healthier food choices for me and my family.

How it works:

Guiding Stars is a food rating system available that rates food based on nutrient density using a scientific algorithm. Foods are rated based on a balance of credits and debits. Foods are credited for vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, whole grains, and Omega 3 fatty acids. Foods are debited for saturated fats, trans fats, added sodium, and added sugar. Foods that are rated are marked with easy to follow tags indicating 0,1,2 or 3 stars. "No stars" means that the food item is new to the store OR although the food was rated, it didn't quite meet the criteria to earn a star. For example foods/beverages containing less than 5 calories per serving such as bottled water, dried spices, tea and coffee would not have any stars.

You can find Guiding Stars on price tags of your favourite foods at Loblaws®, Fortinos®, Real Canadian Superstore®, valu-mart®, Your Independent Grocer®, Zehrs Markets®, Provigo®, Atlantic Superstore®, Dominion®, Maxi®, Maxi & Cie®, No Frills® and Save Easy® locations. You can also visit www.guidingstars.ca and do a little research using the food finder before your next shopping trip, making it even easier to find the good food you need for you and your family!

I know that from now on I will be looking to the Guiding Stars to help me make the right choices whenever we shop at our local Loblaws store.
