Most of the time, during the summer months you won't find us in the house. Instead, like everyone else, you will find us out and about enjoying the weather with some real summer fun.

On those days when we may be stuck inside due to weather or other unforeseen happenings, we can always keep the kids occupied with the help of Playmobil!

Explore life and the great outdoors with the Playmobil Wild Life Adventure Treehouse play set. Located in the heart of the forest, this tree house is surrounded by wildlife. Watch as a mother bear and her cub fish for their dinner, while a fox family plays nearby. Just beware of the broken planks on the bridge or you might fall through! Use the hoist to lift the heavy supplies up to the tree house. At the end of the day, keep wild visitors out by pulling up the staircase.

This set includes two figures, tree house with grass platform, bridge of broken planks, hoist, bears, geese, foxes, owl, bald eagle, a bird with a nest, rock caves, fish, fishing pole, snake, walkie talkie, computer, supply boxes and other cool accessories.

Available at most retail stores and independent toy retailers for around $79.99. Ages 4+ years.

This was another great set to add to the kids ever growing Playmobil collection. They love mixing and matching their themed sets and figures to create an endless rainy day of imaginative play.

I feel like such a dork writing this but I have to tell you, I had never watched the show Gilmore Girls until it came to Netflix. I don't know why I never watched it. I guess my taste in programming has changed over the years, I was after all only in my mid-twenties when this show came out. Maybe I didn't quite understand the whole "Mom-Daughter" duo.

Everyone I spoke to watched it though, talked about it. My mother even ranted and raved about how great a show it was. I read article upon article about how great a show it was but it wasn't up until this year that I started watching Gilmore Girls. I guess you can say Netflix kind of gave me a boost.

When Gilmore Girls originally aired on TV, I had a newborn baby. My first newborn baby, might I add. Those were actually my "Sex in the city" days. you see, I didn't get to watch a whole lot of TV. Anything that actually aired, I watched it in reruns on different channels. No, we didn't have a DVR or anything like that. "Sex in the city" played repeats on a certain channel at the baby's feeding time almost every evening, so we'd watch it while feeding and cuddling afterward.

Anyway, back to the topic of Gilmore Girls. As I have said before, I watch many different shows now that we can stream pretty much whatever we want whenever we want. In between seasons of shows I love, I decided to give Gilmore Girls a shot. Why not check out what everyone was raving about 10 years ago and still are today.

I won't write a review about the show. That's been done 1000 times by now, I'm sure (just Google it). But, I will say I enjoyed it. It's a much cleaner-cut show than I usually watch and some of the fashion was a little questionable, but I enjoyed it. The story was a heartwarmer at the least. It brought back memories of the early 2000's with the pop culture references and such. So nostalgic!

So, I finished it. All seven seasons. I started in January (like I said I would here) and I finished just the other day. That's a lot of binge-watching, it helps that we don't have to wait once a week to see the next episode!

If you are a Gilmore Girls fan or just on any kind of social media at all, you've probably heard about the reboot , Gilmore Girls - A Year In The Life coming to Netflix later on this year. It will be 4 90 minute episodes and I bet they will be great!

According to the Gilmore Girls Facebook page, we are in for a treat on July 1st with ALL episodes being available worldwide only on Netflix. Does this mean we can catch up sooner than we expected?

What are you looking forward to most about the return of the Gilmore Girls?

I'm sure you've heard the news!

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life will launch everywhere that Netflix is available on Friday, November 25th at 12:01am PT

Here's what we can look forward to:

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life includes four 90-minute chapters, each spanning one of the four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, who executive produces, writes and directs the four 90-minute chapters with Daniel Palladino. The project is from Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. https://youtu.be/fTnU5MG5Edw

Every day, we load the kids into the truck to get what we need to do done. Dropping them off at school, activities, coffee runs and groceries, our truck has seen it's share of family moments in the last year we have owned it.

Hubby takes pride in the vehicles and with good reason. For the family, a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport that hubby basically brought back to life. This truck was dump-worthy, it sounded and looked hopeless, but he used his magical mechanical skills (aka hours of hard work and determination) and fixed it up to be road worthy.

For the times he doesn't have the gang with him (and to save on gas) he got another project car earlier this year - a 2003 Mini Cooper SC. This one he had his eye on for a while and like the truck, it was almost dump-worthy too. It needed a lot of TLC. Using his magic once again, he brought this car back to life. These aren't new vehicles (the mini could use a little paint touch up here and there) but they are safe and they get us from point a to point b and back.

When the weather is nice, sunny and warm you can find hubby outside with his pride and joys. I think washing/shining/detailing is his favourite summer activity. This man refuses to use anything but "the best" on his vehicles which is why we were excited when Armor All sent us a kit to keep them both shiny and protected!

In our car care kit we got:

- Multi-purpose auto cleaner
- Air freshening protectant
- Car Wash
- Glass wipes
- Sponge

All in a Armor All Caddy you can use to store all of the products in. You can find these at Walmart for under $30.

Armor All has a wide variety of different products to keep your car clean and protected, inside and out. From windows to tires and more, give your car the clean it deserves with Armor All.

Did you know using household detergents isn't good for your car? As much as you think can save you money using all-purpose house cleaner or even dish soap to wash your car, it really isn't doing you any good. It's not really good for your finish or materials on the interior because it doesn't have any means of protectant like products actually made to wash your car have. You won't get the same results as using the proper dedicated products, like anything else. Products from Armor All are made specifically to use on vehicles, nothing more. I say get the right materials and get the job done right the first time.

To learn more about these and other car care products visit ArmorAll.ca

While you're there, enter the "Get your shine on" contest - the grande prize is a Mini Cooper Convertible!

Our dogs love to eat. What dog doesn't, right? And when it comes to food we try to feed them what's good for them, like we do for the whole family. We check lists of people food for what's good and what's not, having three kids and four dogs you are guaranteed a table scrap dropped from time to time. We stick with food brands the dogs love and we know come with good nutrition and a good value.

Typically Mr. Ruffy, Sofi, Sasha, and Daizy eat dry food. We buy a big bag or two of the kind they like. They also get chew bones often (Mr. Ruffy loves his Greenies!) and wet food as a treat. Meaning, they don't get wet food very often. They tend to gobble it right up quickly, looking for more.

This is a bad habit and can lead to overfeeding if the meals aren't monitored. We'd like to change that and have them enjoy the best of both worlds with #mixedfeeding!

What is mixed feeding?

Basically, mixed feeding is giving your dog a variety of foods they love and not restricting them to one kind of meal. Who likes to eat the same thing every day, right?

Here are some facts from Pedigree about wet food vs dry food and what #mixedfeeding can do for our four-legged family members!

Approximately 30% of Canadian pet owners take their pets on vacation, with 43% of dog owners always bringing their pup along.

Around 44% of pet owners feed their pet wet food on a regular basis, and one-quarter (25%) said they never serve their pet wet food
Wet food contains fewer calories than dry food, and helps your pet maintain a healthy body weight
Dry food is a concentrated energy source, and its crunchy texture helps maintain your pet’s oral health
Serving your pet wet food will not cause them to gain weight if it’s properly integrated into their diet. If slowly introduced, it will actually cause your pet to ingest fewer calories while also providing them with extra health benefits
It also has numerous health benefits, including reducing urinary tract infection. Only 23% of Canadians are aware know this
There  isn’t a ‘right way’ to provide your pet with a mixed food diet – as long as they are getting some sort of combination of both wet and dry food, they will reap the benefits
There isn’t a ‘right way’ to start a mixed feeding diet – as long as your pet is getting a combination of both, they will reap the benefits

Tips on introducing Mixed Feeding into a pet’s diet:

1. Feed your pet wet food at breakfast and/or dinner. This way you can avoid leaving wet food out all day and your pet can join in on family meal time!

2. Try alternating days or meals - feed Dry one day and Wet the next, or feed Dry one meal and Wet the next to give your pet variety

3.Try a variety of flavours and textures to find your pet's favorite.

4. Mix dry kibble with wet food in one bowl for a delicious new texture or serve separately side by side.

We have been trying this new #mixedfeeding method for a few days now and the dogs seem to really be enjoying it thanks to a surprise sent over to us from Pedigree!. Of course, they enjoy the days they get wet food more than the days they get the usual dry but I think the change will be good for them in the long run. They are still quite young dogs with a lot of love to give!

We are excited to continue our #MixedFeeding journey with Pedigree! You can follow along on social media using the hashtag #MixedFeeding!

When we first found the house we currently live in, one of the first things that caught our eye was the back yard. Having both kids and dogs, a back yard is necessary. It may be small but it's ours. It's more than just a backyard, it's a place we can "get away", entertain, and most of all have fun!

You can find everything you need with the Canadian Tire Wow Guide both online and in the handy Canadian Tire Wow Guide catalogue that came in the mail back in April.

If you are looking for backyard fun toys, look no further. There is a special page in the guide just for summer fun! You can find water balloons, water blasters, sprinklers, backyard slides, bubbles and much more!

We picked some things up and had a blast during our Ottawa heat wave last weekend. The kids love anything to do with water, it's no wonder summer time is their favourite season.

Celebrate summer and back yard fun with @CanadianTire #CTWOWGuide Backyard fun Twitter Party!

I love it when a show I enjoy comes out with a new season of episodes for us to get our binge-watching on. The only problem most of the time is that it is about a year between seasons, no matter what the show.

I tend to watch a lot of different shows, different styles with different storylines and different characters - it's hard to remember exactly what was happening from one season to the next. I tend to re-watch and binge-watch while doing so.

It turns out I am not the only one, especially with Netflix shows like Orange Is The New Black.

During a survey conducted by the people of Netflix, they found that most fans of Orange Is The New Black, rewatch old episodes in preparation for a new season.

We are some die-hard fans! Netflix also released the series most re-watched episodes. As expected, viewers prefer to re-indulge in the last three episodes of a season (those always make great refreshers!), but the one that remains supreme is, of course, season 1, episode 1 when Piper Chapman leaves her supportive fiancĂ© Larry for her new home: a woman’s prison. I have seen that episode a few times myself.

Some popular episodes include:

Season 1:
Episode 1 - “I wasn’t ready”
Sentenced to fifteen months for a crime committed in her youth, Piper Chapman leaves her supportive fiance Larry for her new home: a woman’s prison.
Episode 12 - “Fool me once”
Painful truths reorient several relationships and careers: Pennsatucky feels disrespected by Piper; Larry gives a revealing radio interview.
Episode 13 - “Can’t fix crazy”
Red’s scheme to reclaim her kitchen backfires; the inmates stage a Christmas pageant; Piper’s plans unravel even as she realizes her life is in jeopardy,

Season 2:
Episode 11 - “Take a break from your values”
Piper is shocked at an unexpected change in her status; Soso’s hunger strike attracts new support that takes on a religious fervor.
Episode 12 - “It was the change”
Tensions run high as a prison power outage forces several issues to come to light; Piper finds herself compromised and is forced to think on her feet.
Episode 13 - “We have manners. We’re polite”
Several futures hang in the balance as the inmates face and confront their worst nightmares: Life will never be the same again.

Season 3:
Episode 11 - “We can be heroes”
Caputo and Piper confront labor issues. A miracle occurs in Norma’s group. Crazy Eyes’ erotica winds up in the hands of the staff.
Episode 12 - “Don’t make me come back there”
Daya goes into labor. Sophia suffers a hate crime. Stella helps Piper with a business snag. Taystee takes on a new role.
Episode 13 - “Trust no bitch”

Miracles and conversions occur, but Piper and Caputo know that some situations can’t be dealt with through spiritual means.

Other Canadian-specific highlights about OITNB fans you may find interesting:

·         Almost one quarter of Canadian respondents (23%) plan to watch the previous season while 42% plan on re-watching all seasons before the season 4 launch
·         Close to half of respondents (43%) said they will start preparing for the new season (S4) this week, and Canadian fans are willing to give up house chores to do so -- cleaning the house (41%) and making your bed (38%)
·         Outside of refreshing their memory, one third said they like to re-watch to relive moments with their favourite characters and 30% said they look for possible foreshadowing
Over one quarter (28%) said they re-watch because it’s their favourite show and they can’t get enough

-          It can be lonely in Litchfield. Over one third of Canadian respondents (32%) said they plan to re-watch by themselves.

OITNB season 4 is streaming June 17th only on Netflix and you can guarantee I will be "busy" for the next several evenings.

Oh and if you've binged through OITNB and are looking for more prison drama - check out Wentworth. You can watch seasons 1-3 on Netflix! Enjoy!

Bath time is an important time for you and your baby. You bond, you play and you get to know each other through a special bedtime ritual.

When babies are young of course the best type of shampoo, body wash, moisturizers etc are those made for sensitive skin.

Even though our youngest is already three years old, we still use sensitive skin bath washes and shampoos during her bath time. They make her skin soft and smooth plus they always smell so nice!

Disclosure: I am a P&Gmom. As part of my affiliation with this group I have been compensated to share Pampers deals and test diaper subscription services. The opinions on this blog are my own.

It's baby shower season which means it's time to think of a great (and useful) gift you can give that mom-to-be in your life.

As nice as gift baskets, stuffed animals and about 100 soft blankies that they will get are, a practical gift is always very appreciated. Think diapers.

New parents have a lot of things to think about from the nursery to the diaper bag, sometimes there could be so much going on that you forget to pick up a couple of things, one of them being diapers on your grocery run. Yes, it's happened to me on more than one occasion. Nothing like the feeling of panic knowing your little bundle is about to use her last diaper.

You can never have too many diapers and when they are newborns, multiple sizes are a must-have because they grow so fast. When I was pregnant with my oldest (who's now 11 by the way), I was given the gift of a diaper cake. It was thoughtful, practical and we were thankful for it!
Products you use (and love) like Pampers can be delivered right to your doorstep, avoiding the stress and hassle of rushing out to the store with subscription services.

Why not give her the gift of diapers plus have them delivered to her door? If you Google search "Pampers Diaper Subscription" you can find various local retailers who are participating in this awesome diaper subscription service that lets you pick your diapers and order them in advance, delivered to your home. Don't ever worry about forgetting again!

Want to save even more? Download the Checkout51 app and get $3 cash back on Pampers Wipes, Pampers Cruisers, Pampers Swaddlers and Pampers Easy Ups or $2 back on Pampers Baby Dry (while quantities last).

Also, get $1-$3 off Pampers products at pgeveryday.ca and pampers.ca.

Happy savings!

Sponsored post on behalf of Gillette. Opinions and comments are those of the author.

Living in an age of technology is a good thing. We have everything we need at our fingertips on tablets, computers and smartphones. Often, screentime outweighs the face-to-face time that is important. The internet has become everybody's "go-to" place to find answers to whatever questions they may have.

The internet is a sea of information from videos to articles, images and more but does it truly give the answers our teens really need? This Father's Day, Gillette is reminding people to "Go Ask Dad" answers to their everyday questions. While Dad may enjoy a new book (or razor) for Father's Day, a good heart-to-heart will be the true gift he will love.

Check out this video from Gillette where real teens and their fathers participated in the "Go Ask Dad" experiment. In the end, they realize something very important: The internet may "know it all" but it's Dad that really "knows best".

After you have that special talk, why not give Dad an extra gift, helping him look his best every day without breaking the bank! Ties, socks, and underwear are things he can buy on his own, something he'll actually enjoy? The new Gillette ProShield razor. This razor has lubrication before and after the blades so his skin will be smoother and shielded from irritation. At only $14.99, the Gillette ProShield won't irritate the bank account either!

Take your gifting game to the next level and get Dad a subscription to GilletteShaveClub.ca, he will never have to worry about restocking his blades again!

Summer is around the corner and kids are going to want to have some fun! One thing that is always a winner is going to water slide parks. Everyone always has a blast (including us adults). The only problem is the kids want to go all the time and we just can't go every single day. Well, at least the kids can now with Playmobil!

Let their imaginations take them away to their own water park whenever they want with the help of the Playmobil Waterpark with Slides playset

Take a break from the summer heat and have some fun at the Playmobil Waterpark with Slides! With two jumbo slides, your little one's Playmobil friends will slip and slide down to the wave pool at the bottom. When they want to ride the slide again, use the cable winch to pull the tube up to the top of the slides! Just make sure to wait for the big octopus to give you the green sign before you slide again! Spinning the octopus creates fun ripples and waves in the pool!

This set includes two adult figures, one child figure, multi-level structure with slides, pool, tube, life ring, rotating octopus, cable winch, and other accessories. You can find the Playmobil Waterpark with Slides at most stores where toys are sold for about $79.99.

The set (as most Playmobil sets) requires some building and help of a parent to do so. It took us (aka me with little guy more or less playing with the figures) about an hour to put it together and people, I am not good at putting things together even with simple instructions!

You don't need to add water to agen fun which is what I like. The kids used their imagination. They have other characters from other sets like the recycling and hockey guys, they also joined in the pool party fun!

This is another great one to add to the Playmobil collection!

Have a splashing good time!

When I go to bed at night, I like things dark. I can't sleep with any light source like the tv or even a dim lamp. When I was a kid though, forget it. I needed that night light.  My kids have inherited this trait and can sleep with all of the lights on if we let them. There is just something about the darkness of the night and their overactive imaginations that can make sleep time a little difficult.

Stars on the ceiling has always been a popular choice to help ease their kids nighttime woes. Stars and light sounds can be very soothing plus it helps keep little minds off whatever is scaring them. When I was a kid they sold glow in the dark astronomy stickers, stars and planets, that you could stick on the ceiling. They would glow for a short time after the light was turned off.

Since then, many projector type products are out there that display images on the ceiling or wall to help babies and kids ease into sleep.

Cloud B offers us Dream Buddies which display star constellations on the walls and ceiling in LED light colours amber, blue and green. They are super soft and cuddly! There are three to choose from; a bunny, a puppy, or a lamb.  $29.99

If you're looking to add some ambiance to your child's bedtime, Peaceful Panda can help! It plays 8  peaceful sounds/music through its detachable music box. It has a velcro strap on the back to attach it to a bedside or crib for younger babies. It's super soft and cute! $42.99

Both Dream Buddies and Peaceful Panda make the perfect bedtime companions for Miss M. These can be found at independent gift and toy shops across Canada.
